UPDATE: @Justinjpearson on Brent Taylor’s Sexting Scandal🍆 “This is the type of predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics. Tennessee deserves leaders who respect women— not sexually harass, expose their genitalia to, or take advantage of them.”

Let’s talk about the Chris Maragos case… aka the one where a Philly jury hit Eagles doctors with a $43.5 million verdict for negligently ending a Super Bowl captain’s career. Maragos tore his PCL (with meniscus issues) in a 2017 game vs. the Panthers. Dr. James Bradley (longtime Steelers doc) did the surgery; Rothman Orthopaedics (Eagles team docs) handled rehab. Plaintiffs argued the meniscus wasn’t properly addressed and rehab was advanced too aggressively (including running) despite a 2018 MRI showing persistent problems. That caused further damage and forced retirement in 2019. Defense said the meniscus was stable and more surgery would have done more harm than good. After a two-week trial (Nick Foles, Trey Burton, and Jordan Hicks testified), the jury found negligence in under three hours. Liability: Bradley 67% ($29.2M), Rothman 33% ($14.3M). An economist put lost earnings at ~$8.7M as the floor; the rest reflected pain, limitations, and future care. The verdict was upheld on appeal in 2024. Maragos’ lawyer put it bluntly: it forces team doctors to stop focusing only on “when can he return to play” and start thinking about the next 50 years of a player’s life.
Fun fact, players have sued team doctors for negligent return-to-play decisions (ex-Eagles captain Chris Maragos won $43.5M over his knee care). As a very disappointed Eagles fan, I’m enraged. Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am, told not to sleep because of the clot risk, then cleared to play in London. Now it’s DVT + bilateral pulmonary emboli and he’s out for the season on blood thinners. Granted I’m no doctor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his career is over because of this. There are some serious questions around that initial medical call that need to be looked at. Health first for Jalen.

Keffe D has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur. On Tuesday (Oct. 12), less than two months after being found guilty of first-degree murder, Duane "Keffe D" Davis appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom where he learned that he was sentenced to 20 years to life for first-degree murder and a consecutive 20-year sentence for the enhancement charge of using a deadly weapon. "You don't get to take a man from his family," Judge Carli Kierny said before the sentencing. "You don't get to take his very life, his whole future, from him and just walk away from it. Especially when that man is Tupac Shakur." Back in August, a jury convicted Keffe D of orchestrating the murder of ’Pac in retaliation for Keffe D's nephew, Orlando Anderson, being jumped at a casino by Tupac and members of Death Row Records on the night the rapper was shot and killed near the Las Vegas Strip. Despite not committing the actual shooting, prosecutors say Keffe D provided the gun and was present during the drive-by that took Tupac's life at the age of 25. Keffe D has already indicated his plans to appeal the verdict. Now that he has been sentenced, he can officially file his appeal. 🎥: Law&Crime Trials/YouTube

Trump: Mohammed El-Sayed. I'm the president. I can call him whatever the hell I want. He's a radical jihadist. I don't want a jihadist as a senator from Michigan

I love that Giuliani told Mamdani it was inappropriate for him to show up at the 9/11 memorial. And then, literally the next day, Mamdani released 170,000+ pages of documents about what NYC officials knew about the toxic air after 9/11...and what New Yorkers were told. That might be the biggest pwn I’ve ever seen in political history. 😭

We didn't adopt him hoping for years. We brought him home to give him a peaceful ending. His name is Calyx. A 15-year-old Pitbull with soft gray fur, cloudy eyes, slow steps, and a face that carries years of stories without saying a word. He came to us tired — not just old, but worn out in a way you can't fake. So we prepared for goodbye. Orthopedic beds in every corner, warm blankets everywhere, quiet nights, gentle mornings, a home full of patience. We thought we were giving him comfort for his final days. Calyx had other plans. Week one, he slept — the kind of deep, safe sleep that only happens when fear is finally gone. Week two, something changed in his eyes; you could tell he realized this place was his. Week three, he found the toy. Nothing new or fancy, just a small stuffed one. But to him, it became everything. That's when the "tired old dog" disappeared. The Pitbull who barely moved now trots around proudly with his toy. The one who slept all day now wakes up early, carrying it like a prize. Every night he curls up just like this, holding it close, like it's the most important thing in his world. That's when it hit us — he wasn't just slowing down because of age. He was missing warmth. Connection. Something to call his own. Now he still moves a little slower, still naps a lot. But he also steals food when no one's looking, beats us to the door, and that toy never leaves his side. We thought we were preparing for an ending. Instead, he reminded us that sometimes love doesn't just comfort a life — sometimes it quietly brings it back.

Obama on Trump: Who cannot understand how an NBA superstar can be both Greek and Black… Who spreads ridiculous fantasies that Haitians are eating people’s pets. Who just this past week arranged for one of his supporters to tell jokes about Black people eating watermelon and Puerto Rico being an island of garbage right there on stage at Madison Square Garden. Do you that is someone who will look out for you?
