I used to sleep. I used to sleep all night. I used to worry about my grades. I used to go to the gym. I used to hang out over coffee. I used to live among my childhood friends. I used to shop unafraid. I used to look at the sky with hope. I used to open a door to enter my 4-story home. Today, my family and I live in a tent. Displaced again.

Dr. Jill Stein is facing fascist retaliation by the Trump regime for protesting against Israeli genocide. She faces 18 months in prison after being violently arrested by the state for opposing Israel Where are the “left” voices standing with her? Where is Bernie Sanders? Zohran Mamdani? AOC and the DSA? Are they truly going to stay quiet and refuse solidarity with victims of fascism simply because they are not a Democrat!? This is terrifying signs of things to come

This is my cat, Bella 🐾❤️ I always share my food with her because she is one of the dearest friends in my life. She has suffered so much alongside me throughout these years of genocide, and we have been through difficult days together that I will never forget. I love her as if she were my little sister. Amid all the horrors and trauma of war, Bella has been a great source of comfort and happiness in my life. Now, it’s my turn to help her and try to repay even a small part of all the love she has given me. ❤️🐾 I hope everyone who sees this tweet will help by sharing it and donating whatever amount they can. No matter how small, every contribution means so much to us. 🐾💔 chuffed.org/project/165929

The results of Israel’s elections demonstrate how racism has permeated the Jewish collective—not just the fascist contingent of Smotritch, Ben Gvir, Netanyahu & their ilk. The Palestinian-Arab citizens of Israel continue to be targeted, excluded & smeared while the Zionist majority brazenly adopts the extremist policies of genocidal Israel.

Ehab Jameel Lutfi Abu Taqiya, known as Omair, was a critical part of The Sameer Project from the start. He was a close friend of Mosab Ali, and now they are reunited. Omair is now a martyr, he was killed this morning by the military occupation. He was killed right after he spent his morning setting up tents and fixing a water well with other team members to serve his people. The Sameer Project team is devastated, our hearts are broken. But for Omair, Mosab and Ameen, we keep going. Pray for our beloved Omair 🤲🏽

We are utterly heartbroken by learning of the brutal killing of two wonderful NRC colleagues yesterday in Port‑au‑Prince, Haiti. Our two colleagues, Bonaparte Février and Richard Alexandre, were cherished friends and colleagues within our NRC family in Haiti and across the world. They worked tirelessly as key members of our heroic Haiti team to prevent and alleviate the growing suffering of their fellow Haitians. We mourn with their families and condemn the senseless violence that took the lives of two young men who only wished to provide aid and protection to vulnerable communities that suffer so much from the endemic violence and displacement that has engulfed so many in Haiti. We call on all parties concerned, including Haitian authorities as well as the international community, to do everything in their power to protect civilians, uphold international law, and prevent further violence. Neither the Haitian society nor the outside world can tolerate that civilians, including aid workers, are killed with impunity. We owe it to Bonaparte and Richard to continue their humanitarian mission in Haiti and to bear witness to the atrocities there. They will always be remembered and we will always be grateful for their vital contribution to our humanitarian work in Haiti and elsewhere.

I caught myself watching this video over and over for several minutes, unable to look away. I live inside this destruction, yet seeing it from above left me in shock. All I could think about was how many bombs had fallen on us. I remembered the nights when I was so exhausted that I would cover my ears just to fall asleep through the deafening explosions. And somehow, we are still here. 💔

When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me-it still sometimes happens-and ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his death with unflagging courage and never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don't ever expect to be reunited with Carl. But, the great thing is that when we were together, for nearly twenty years, we lived with a vivid appreciation of how brief and precious life is. We never trivialized the meaning of death by pretending it was anything other than a final parting. Every single moment that we were alive and we were together was miraculous, not miraculous in the sense of inexplicable or supernatural. We knew we were beneficiaries of chance. . . . That pure chance could be so generous and so kind. . . . That we could find each other, as Carl wrote so beautifully in Cosmos, you know, in the vastness of space and the immensity of time. . . . That we could be together for twenty years. That is something which sustains me and it’s much more meaningful. . . . The way he treated me and the way I treated him, the way we took care of each other and our family, while he lived. That is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don't think I'll ever see Carl again. But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful. - Ann Druyan

In an ominous development, a new form of landslide - carrying blocks the size of two-storey houses - is hitting Canada as permafrost melts. Studies suggest they are connected with wildfires and that they could be unprecedented in 10,000 years. livescience.com/planet-earth…

It was a very difficult night, one of the most difficult days. I hugged my children all night until morning , I never imagined that we would survive. My daughter Lana said to me, "Dad, let's make a video saying that we are still alive." We have many friends around the world who are worried about us and love us very much.

Finally... After all this exhaustion, pain, and endless suffering, in the midst of the ongoing war and genocide. God has blessed me today with the greatest gift of all. ❤️ I have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy, who carries the name of his brother, whom we lost three years ago. A light that has illuminated the darkness, a message of life from God in the midst of death. Words cannot describe the joy filling my heart. All praise be to God for this precious blessing and His endless mercy, even in the hardest of times. From the depths of my heart, I thank everyone who stood by my side and cared for me and my family. Your presence was a lifeline for us during our darkest days. You helped save my wife and our newborn son, and I will never forget your kindness and love. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who shared our pain... and now shares our joy. ❤️ @ireallyhateyou @krause53391

It has been an exhausting day spent repairing tents. We haven’t finished the work yet, as I ended up hitting my finger with a hammer. We expect to return to the task tomorrow. Please keep us in your prayers, and kindly consider making a donation. chuffed.org/project/179610-e…

The Polar Vortex is now forecast to split in early November, with a high chance of an official Stratospheric Warming event with a wind reversal around November 4. That would make this the earliest Sudden Stratospheric Warming on record, by more than 3 weeks. In our latest analysis, we look at how the event is forecast to unfold, along with early thoughts on potential weather impacts and how another such event is currently trending for mid-winter 2026/2027. severe-weather.eu/global-wea…

With almost no media coverage, in great part because the majority of these villages were Shia, Israel has completely leveled 48 of 60 cities in Southern Lebanon. It might be the single biggest ethnic cleansing campaign in modern history with the least international pushback.

"Europe wants electric cars & batteries. China is investing heavily in renewable tech. Govts across the world have made commitments to cut carbon emissions. But there is another race behind this promise: a race for the minerals, land & natural resources needed to make it happen."
Exploitation doesn’t become acceptable simply because it’s done in the name of saving the planet. Who benefits from the green transition, and who gets left paying for it? My article, The carbon colonialism frontline, published today in The Ecologist. theecologist.org/2026/oct/28…
