article 19(1)(b), page 23. it’s right there! a democracy isn't only about voting every 5 yrs. it's also the right to dissent in between. peaceful protest is a constitutional right under article 19, not some favour granted by the police or govt. you can disagree w/ a protest & still support people’s right to protest. this right belongs to everyone, not one side or the other literally pulled out my copy of the constitution to show how plainly the right is written. it can’t get clearer than this man

as i witnessed the sun go down over this lake in bangalore this evening, i noticed the sky burned brighter after the sun was gone than it had all day the lake, still as glass, held every ribbon of that lingering fire. it couldn’t touch the sky, but it carried its colors anyway. the sky could only burn in one place, the lake let it burn in two i couldn’t help but think of the thousands of young, fearless, fiery souls on the streets of our capital today, out on behalf of millions of indians, caring enough to show up & speak up reminding us that questioning those in power is what keeps a democracy alive. it’s a right our constitution guarantees every one of us & a responsibility that comes w/ being a citizen not all of us could be on those streets today, but we could be the lake & let their fire & spirit burn in a second place, even from far away

“so what do you do?” my auto driver asked last night. i tried to dumb down “marketing at an ai startup” the way i do with relatives & he replied in fluent english w/ a much better grasp of mktg than i’d assumed he'd have. what followed was one of the best conversations i’ve had in a while. this driver is 20 yrs old. he’s doing his MBA at a college in KR puram, bangalore & drives namma yatri to pay his own fees & expenses. his dad drives an auto too & his mom runs a vegetable shop. he talks to 100s of people on his rides & uses them to understand how diff markets work. a few things about him: - knows himself very well: he speaks well & believes he can influence/persuade ppl w/ his words (clearly) - he loves talking to ppl & wants to do a sales internship/job - very driven & motivated - president of his college - loves debating, but can’t afford to travel for national competitions - has only seen real estate sales, but wants to understand the bigger picture: capital markets & how money actually moves, so he can place himself in the market that has the most money (capitalist thinking) i tried pitching him an internship in generalist mktg roles at ai startups, since that’s the place i can help the most. he felt he didn’t have the technical background or experience to work at an “ai” company. i told him he didn’t need either & can learn. but he was clear about himself: he enjoys talking to people & sales is what he wants to do. it's inspiring how driven & self-aware he is at 20. it's unfortunate how his economical circumstances & lack of access to right networks/communities deny so much for him he’s looking for an internship in sales. if you’re hiring or know someone who is, i’d bet on him. dm me & i’ll connect you (posting with his consent ofc)
