Even in the first light of day, the Geminids are easily visible. Mostly in the southern and southwestern skies, moving west to east. They’re quick and faint, but they’re there.

Listener reports sitting in traffic in the Devonshire area since about 7:50 waiting to cross the Westmorland Street Bridge in Fredericton, no vehicles moving in either direction, looks like a rollover in the middle of the bridge. He can see one vehicle upside down

#OTD 25 years ago, Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.) homered in his 5th consecutive game for the Oakland A's when he took Yankees right-hander Orlando Hernandez deep in the second inning. It was also Stairs' 20th HR of the 1998 season which marked his 2nd straight 20-HR campaign.

Candle ice are pillars of ice occurring when ice is decaying and in advance state of melting hence it’s a form of ‘rotten ice’. The shape at this point is influenced by the hexagonal nature of ice crystals

Fun times last week with @StephenBHeard in his backyard. 4 sugar maples, 8 taps, dozens of empty 2L pop bottles. By the end of season, he’s hoping for ~600L of sap = ~20L of maple syrup 🍁🤑🤞
