Trying the new GPT-4: Welcome GPT-4, what is the most recent set of data you've trained on?
"Hello! I'm actually ChatGPT, an AI language model developed by OpenAI, and not GPT-4. I am based on the GPT-3 architecture, and my training data goes up until September 2021."
Hmmm.

Reducing open source software to pull requests and bug fixes neglects the hours of operational work it takes to run a project. There are people behind those efforts too.

I was in twitter timeout because the algorithm can't tell the difference between someone threatening harm to others or themselves & someone talking about common plots in a thread about TV detectives and crime novels. If only I didn't write about how tech can go wrong

I'm curious are y'all using Oracle JDK or a non-Oracle OpenJDK alternative? If so, which non-Oracle OpenJDK are you using, and why?

I just wrote the following on a GitHub issue. I don't understand why people have not learned this yet:
β οΈ NEVER SEND POTENTIAL SECURITY ISSUES PUBLICLY.
If the security issue is concrete, it also poses all the users at risk because the maintainers might not have time to act.

The next major release of JRuby will support Ruby 3.2, and we're considering a leap to Java 17 at minimum. This might inconvenience some legacy users, but 9.4 will continue to be maintained (with Java 8 support) and the benefits of moving to 17 are enormous. Thoughts?
