Ok, so see that rifle on the right?
That’s a @Ruger_Firearms American Predator Gen2 7mm08. I was being an idiot and was going to use my old Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 scope on it for hunting because I figured “this is good enough”.
IT IS NOT good enough!!!!! 🤦♂️
So these old Buckmaster scopes were made, and gained popularity for Whitetail hunting. They made these scopes appear to be able to push out to 1000 yards if you had the skills.
Man, ain’t no one shooting these things with any real accuracy past 200 yards, which is fine for East Coast Whitetail hunting where a shot might be 80-150 yards. Out here where we might be pushing out to 400 yards this things retical lines are ENORMOUS! At 100 yards the reticle completely blocks out the 1 inch zero target center circle.
Yeah you can throw it up, and estimate proper placement and take game out to 200 yards, probably a bit further. BUT at 200 yards the reticle takes up 2 inches, and 400y it takes up 4 inches of the target. That’s not a scope designed for accuracy.
So zeroed a scope on a rifle that I have already taken off, and replaced with a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40 CDS inherited from my FIL.
Now, back to the Whittington Center to dial this sucker in.
And I tell you what, seeing that much spread in a group because of a fat reticle will make you question your skills for a minute! 😡 😂
Probably shouldn’t have decided a 17 year old scope designed for east coast timber hunts was good for Colorado Rockies elk and mule deer hunting. 🤦♂️
I do love this rifle, although 7mm08 is more expensive ammo than I like. 😂 😂

The Veteran community is much smaller than most realize, and eventually you’re gonna run into someone who knows you, or knows someone you served beside.
Stolen Valor is never acceptable, and far too many of these cases are running around claiming to be experts when they barely made it through one enlistment, if they even accomplished that.
It should be noted, this woman was on then candidate Biden’s cybersecurity team!!!!!
Makes you wonder who vets those people. Her discharge alone should have been a red flag that she was unfit to serve in any security role or capacity, yet she worked for a man who became President, and she’s a self admitted “hacker”.
She barely “served” and was kicked out before reaching the VA minimum requirement to be considered a Veteran, which is 24 months continuous active duty service.
She doesn’t even qualify for VA benefits considering she was kicked out at only 17 months time in service.
She’s not a “Veteran”

For those unawares, like I was before we moved here, the @NRA Whittington Center is the largest range facility open to the public in the WORLD. It’s located on the outskirts of Raton New Mexico, and hosts the King of the 2 Miles finals every year.
Place has cabins for rent, campgrounds, hunting, a museum, and a bunch of ranges. If you ever get the chance to visit you really should, there’s no other range facility like it.

MAJ Darron Wright was our BN S3 during 1-8 Infantry Battalion’s 2003-2004 Iraq deployment. He was built like a power lifter. Granted, at that point in time I was someone between 160-170 lbs after constant OPs and several months with much less food than I would have preferred, but he always impressed me as a giant hulk of a man.
MAJ Wright was constantly in the gym we cobbled together at FOB Eagle and was the first one on the list he created of the “300 Club”. This wasn’t a cumulative score but rather a 1 rep max of bench press. Darron was constantly telling everyone that “you gotta eat big to be big” in his Texas drawl.
For Halloween in 2003 LTC Sassaman invited the local Sufi’s to come put on a show. The formed a drum circle and put on a show. They ran skewers through each other’s abdomen’s, sliced each other with razor sharp swords and didn’t bleed. At one point the “shaman” of the tribe tapped a steak knife into the top of a teenage boy’s skull. Then he asked MAJ Wright to pull it out. Much to all of our surprise, he was unable. Then some magic words were spoken in Arabic and the shaman (or imam, I don’t know) extracted it with thumb and index finger (much to Darron’s surprise).
COL Darron Wright died in 2013 on Ft Bragg when his parachute failed to properly deploy. 🫡🇺🇸

I apologize in advance to our more delicate followers. We must never forget the lovelies.
That said, I tried to find a less intense angle of the events that unfolded but Rascal's bodycam was the only remaining functioning camera at his street position that night.
The broader story is as old as time. Western self loathing and misunderstanding of its place and noblesse oblige stirred up in the same communistic cauldron as envy and third world avarice. The more narrow story of how and why Rascal was in France and how he managed to let any of those thugs bloody him up in the first place will have to be a story for another time.
RASCAL IS FINE. Our people were able to get to him before he was overwhelmed. He claims he had things under control but he also does not seem to stoked that I have video that argues otherwise. He is stable and even making jokes with the nurses on site at a location that will remain undisclosed.
He did say this: "Hey JD, givem' the new CZ Duty 4.0 F 9mm, it sure did the job and I really had not even had that much time behind it before things got spicy. Oh, and make sure to tell @SummRidge thanks, as always."
"What are you doing in France, and when did you even leave?!" I asked, mildly frustrated.
"Oh, sorry ol boy, that's Geneviève after me, says I need a fresh wrap, gotta go!" He said and quickly hung up.

*sidenote: Yes I notice that Rascal must have some unique model not available to the regular creature. It would appear to have some mechanism or feature uncommon to semi auto pistols that Rascal actuates prior to firing and it seems the pistol can also shoot off center if that is, in fact, where the assailant is, go figure *🤷♂️
