Why am I hearing about this from polymarket? Is journalism that much more dead than I thought it was?
JUST IN: California rehab operators accused of supplying illegal drugs to recovering addicts to keep them hooked & collect over $210 million from insurers.

I love how much easier it is for people to smash through these shitty subscription lock in services, particularly when many times the hardware will outlast the company and the software making it useless or limited it. So good to see.
Got a cheap embroidery machine off amazon for $300 where the biggest complaint is the mandatory $12/mo app that you’re forced to use. Had ChatGPT create its own app that communicates with the machine. Generative art patches incoming!

Today's experiment in "replying to anything i feel like impulsively"... does seem to have been good for me... this site REALLY wants you to just be an unfiltered opinion posting crazy person like its owner doesnt it.

Sooooo... @BambulabGlobal I'm going to be livestreaming my H1C doing a gigantic print until like... Christmas... how viral do I have to go to get one of these H3Cs so I can get back to printing personal stuff and Christmas gifts without stopping my epic live streamed print?

this is one of my new favorite random replies to stuff I've scrolled past. such a great chance to dunk on a real stupid failure.

Could be worse... just ask @roscosmos about how bad it can be to install something upside down.

Ok so... Im not a @Kurz_Gesagt hater... but when their big hit at AI is that using it both makes crappy outputs and (paraphrasing) rots your brain so you cant think anymore... I think I'm done... I expect better of "deep thinkers" like Kurzgesagt... "thinking deep" demands more.

I remember the idealistic techno futurists talking about how in the future computers would be so powerful we could talk to them and they could interpret our words and design what we wanted based on our spoken language... (ref: like 4 dozen star trek episodes have this plot)

and now... all of a sudden... because we have some shitty companies involved... the star trek technology is treated like the second coming of hitler... when the issue is that the people controlling the technology are hypercapitalists who want to suck the bone marrow out of us to sell it.

idk how widespread this is, but back when I was hiring for a pretty basic data analytics/engineering role that really just required some fluency with Python and SQL, HR would tell me all the time with a straight face they just couldn't find any marginally qualified resumes for me to even look at. And when I got frustrated and asked to see some resumes they thought "weren't qualified" it became clear there was a huge disconnect
During a business trip I heard about multiple companies who are struggling to hire people. Jobs available but they can't fill them. There is a huge disconnect in the job market somewhere- the systems responsible for efficient and effective recruitment have completely failed.

It’s important to remember that Apple can brick these devices pretty easily. Even the desktops. Just saying…

vacuum fluorescent displays were such an incredible vibe "the enemy of art is the absence of limitations"
I really love this green/amber phosphor retro-futuristic UI aesthetic. EVA captured it especially well. We need to resurrect it.

When I talk about how the RBMK is a fine reactor, as long as the operators don’t fuck it up… I did not picture training them from childhood in the ways of the reactor like some sort of fallout post apocalypse regional town quirk
This 1966 Montessori school design by Herman Hertzberger is a brilliant way to make a classroom space truly interactive and fun
