Ferrari’s Q3 Quandary We have seen time and again Ferrari show promise during the practice sessions and then disappoint come qualifying. Why is it that #Hamilton and #Leclerc lament tyre prep more than other teams or have more moments in their final run despite their prowess in Qualifying? My guess is Ferrari has opted for a higher torque delivery map so that they compensate for their weaker engine and lower top speed. This helps with their cornering performance. However, in the final runs of Q3 when the engine is turned up, I think the wheel torque just ends up being too much (causing the car to go beyond its grip limit) as the smaller turbo + shorter gearing amplify the impact of higher Q3 engine torque. This could narrow the optimal grip window so much that it makes it very easy for the drivers to fall foul. Thanks to @f1insightshub we can compare Leclerc’s #AustinGP final run with his fastest lap in Q2. At lower gears you have a higher torque multiplier effect, and in Q3, we see Leclerc having moments/losing time in the lower gear/slower corners (where he may have had too much torque i.e. exceeded the grip limit). But, in the high speed corners and straights, his Q3 lap is faster than his fastest lap in Q2. In #MexicoGP FP1 and FP2, Ferrari ran a higher engine mode. Many people have resorted to the usual ‘glory run’ and ‘PR’ narrative, but what if there was a logical reason for Ferrari to do this. Given Ferrari’s philosophy, their Q3 higher engine mode may increase rpm but the torque delivery is likely too much. By running at a higher engine mode (especially on a green track when grip is lower), Ferrari can hopefully better gauge how best to optimise the different parameters so as to stay within the grip limits come Q3. I like that Leclerc was pushing/catching snaps in FP2 in an effort to understand grip limitations. Fingers crossed that with the data Ferrari makes the right mapping choices for Q3 and hopefully gets the first pole of the year. #F1 #Ferrari

Imola 2000 : Schumacher in dirty air pulled out a 15-second advantage on Barrichello who clean air after just 12 laps. Another Sunday in the office for Michael, winning a race against a faster car (Coulthard jumped Barrichello in the pits and gapped him by ~40 seconds btw). 🐐

the way some antonelli fans talk like he's an unspoken genius, the only one in the grid who has figured out to position the car perfectly in the exit of corners to go faster on the straight...as if engine deficit isn't a bigger factor for drivers of other teams going slower 😭😭

Motore così imbarazzante che charles ha dovuto alzare il piede perché non riusciva a superare la RB di lawson

new narrative unlocked hamilton was completely FINE with brembos (despite making them develop two different compounds for discs) he pushed to change them because he was sad the day he asked got what he wanted without benefits for him apparently (because his performance was NOT

and btw the fact that leclerc has adapted to the ci discs and is performing doesn't exclude the possibility there's more speed to unlock on his side if he were to race with components that follow his preferences and go with his driving style. reason why ferrari should go back

Charles’s “worst season” would be 90% of drivers’ best season

Crazy how charles "worst season" is him having the most top 5 finishes behind only the wdc. People are always criticizing him and slandering him precisely because they themselves don't realize just how highly they rate him

"could you share a memory from your karting days and explain how that experience shaped you as drivers?" 🆑: well, as a driver, the way you drive is very different, but that's where you learn the basics. you start thinking about the team, the setup, overtaking, how to approach races, and eventually how to handle pressure when it matters most in qualifying and in a few inchidents. so yeah, it's also nice when i look at the grid today. it's great to see that many of us were racing against each other in karting 15 or 20 years ago. it's very special to now see all of us in formula 1 fighting for something much bigger. but the passion is still the same, and the emotion of winning is still the same. those really were the best times, without so much marketing and so much media. just racing, and that's what we love most.

"Who are these people?"😭😭😭
"many people think ferrari is the favorite this weekend. how do you see it?" 🆑: which people? who are these people? well, i don't know. honestly, i think we're getting very close, and we have positive momentum from singapore to austin as well. we managed to get the most out of our potential in both races, and i was quite happy with the pace we showed. as for whether we're the favorites this weekend, i don't entirely agree. i think mercedes remains the favorite wherever we go, and i think red bull has also been very strong lately. but yeah, if we get the maximum out of everything we have, i hope it can be a great weekend for us. Men can write bs article psychoanalysing Charles and saying he is scared of Max but when people rightfully call them out they start whining about biased crazy fans who can’t handle criticism of their fav driver. Also implying those fans are only women. The state of f1 journalism
