#1 of 2 Embarrassed by your vaccine privilege ? (cgdev.org/blog/why-im-embarr…) Then check out Go Give One (easy to find) and donate. Tell your friends and family: $5 per dose! Enough donors could matter as a message to rich country govts. h/t @louis boorstin @glassmanamanda

Earlier this year I wrote about visa applications getting rejected for having inapplicable blanks on them. Thanks to a newly resolved FOIA suit, we now have a better sense of the scale of this policy and its consequences. They're enormous. (thread)
“Middlename” field left blank because you don't have a middlename? No address for your dad b/c he's dead? No siblings listed because you’re an only child? Sorry, your immigration applications have all been rejected USCIS's Kafkaesque "no blanks" policy washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

The voters have spoken, and they have chosen @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris to be our next president and vice president. It's a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Onward, together.

Second, this is almost certainly going to be challenged in court. I can't give anyone specific legal advice on their cases (especially because I am not an expert on student visas), but I wouldn't encourage anyone to book a flight "home" this exact moment. Lawsuits are inevitable.
Great new paper showing that consumption taxes may not be as regressive as we think, even on an annual income basis.
Consumption taxes are redistributive in developing countries, lowering inequality by as much as income taxes, driven primarily by differences in informal consumption along the income distribution, from Bachas, Gadenne, and Jensen nber.org/papers/w27429
