if Texas becomes a sanctuary state its ova. Florida here I come
Understand the implications of what happened in Texas last night. Gina Hinojosa has called on Gov. Abbott to end state & local cooperation with ICE & she can order that on day one. Hinojosa voted against the 2017 SB 4 as a TX state rep. The bill was essentially a sanctuary cities ban and required TX law enforcement to cooperate with ICE detainers. She then voted against another SB 4 in 2023, which made it a state crime to cross illegally into Texas. Should there be another border crisis in coming years, there will likely be no resistance from Texas at the border. No Texas DPS, no TX National Guard, no razor wire or water buoys, and no Operation Lone Star, which Hinojosa called a “dog and pony show” and “political theater”. Remember when 15,000 Haitians surged illegally into Del Rio, TX in 2021 under the international bridge? That was only stopped because Texas DPS responded on Abbott’s orders and physically blocked further crossings by lining up their cruisers to form a wall. The Biden Border Patrol was caught off guard and offered almost no resistance, except for some horseback agents who were falsely slandered for “whipping”. Additionally, because Republicans failed to pass any legislation codifying President Trump’s border security measures, if Dems take the White House in 2028, that Dem president could, if he/she wants to, reverse every single Trump border security policy immediately upon taking office because they were all done at the executive level, and they can order Border Patrol to go back to a passive catch & release policy like we saw under Biden.

Absolutely agree. The board is pretty even at this point. Dems need to capitalize and now stand behind some dumbass woke agenda. Repubs need to find a fresh figure that will work for the people. My bet rn is Desantis.
The 2026 midterms were about punishing Trump. They were not about how much U.S. voters like the Democrats or their policies. The party that is smarter about what to do with this conclusion will win the 2028 presidential election.

Let's be real. Jim Senter's rebuttals lacked substance and leaned heavily on hypotheticals rather than actual results. That's not an effective way to address legitimate concerns from the UTEP fan base, especially when it comes across as talking down to the very people who support the program. The bigger issue is his hiring decisions. Those decisions have played a major role in shaping UTEP athletics during his tenure. So here's a fair question for Jim Senter: If you had to grade yourself on your coaching hires since arriving at UTEP, what grade would you give yourself, and what results justify it? @JimSenter2 At some point, accountability has to outweigh explanations. I do appreciate Jim Senter taking the time to go on the radio and address the growing frustration and apathy surrounding UTEP athletics. But fans aren't easily fooled. They can see beyond the talking points, and their frustration speaks volumes. Senter himself pointed out that fans have made their decision about whether they'll attend games, regardless of wins and losses. But isn't that part of the problem? Winning should matter. Expectations should matter. You can't expect a fan base to remain invested when the program struggles to give them something to believe in. If the philosophy is that fans should show up whether the team wins or loses, that's a convenient way to excuse a lack of ambition. Loyalty should never be mistaken for an acceptance of mediocrity.

He runs the team as if its a little league squad. Loves to give out participation trophies weekly. Soft
UTEP head coach Scotty Walden: "I'm really proud of our guys. Coming off the opportunity week (bye)... the biggest message to those guys, not to get emotional off the loss. Don't lose sight of how far we've come along. We can't turn the ball over. "I'm proud of the fight from this team. The way we bounce back and the way we get ready for the next two home games is how we will be defined." "Definitely something to build off of."
