Politicians are lagging indicators of public will on a given issue. Once in a while you see a refreshing exception. @JaneKim is the rare one staring down the insurance industry, calling its bluffs, and setting out a proposal that takes shareholder profits out of the equation.
The @newrepublic just did a deep dive on our race, and our plan to actually hold the insurance industry accountable to consumers and confront climate risks. Check it out at the link in our bio, and vote Jane Kim for Insurance Commissioner by Nov. 3rd!

The @FT reported an insurance insiders memo detailing how insurance companies downplay climate risks and plan to leave taxpayers holding the bag. If insurance companies don't face consequences, home insurance will be nothing more than a open racket. citizen.org/news/response-fi…

We were proud to join other organizations in signing @Public_Citizen's letter, which urges state attorneys general around the country to investigate property insurers' claims handling practices. citizen.org/news/20-organiza…

OK, FL, CA, and IL are suing P&C insurance companies for racketeering + fraud. Industry insiders dropped a bombshell exposΓ© outlining just how widespread this is. Today we called on state attorneys general to open investigations. citizen.org/news/20-organiza…

In the face of rising costs, what if we said, β€œWe don’t have to just take this. Let’s use government to help people so they don’t elect a bunch of fucking fascists!” That’s the core lesson of @IsabellaMWeber’s great new book. Check out our conversation! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

What’s happening in France is a wake-up call to the entire world. 🌍 The cost of living keeps rising while everyday people struggle to survive. People are tired of working hard just to barely get by. Governments need to start listening to the people before frustration turns into chaos. πŸ’―πŸ™πŸ½

For decades economic development has relied on tax breaks and subsidies for the largest corporations, a trickle-down approach that too often falls short. @NYCMayor and @NYCEDC are charting a new path. In the first deal of its kind in NYC history, the public is investing $30 million in a quantum lab - in exchange for three board seats and 15% of the revenue generated from technology it creates. And if any firm coming out of the lab merges, gets acquired, or IPOs, the city gets a payout. When public dollars are invested, the public should share in the wealth and innovation those investments create. nytimes.com/2026/10/14/nyreg…

Steven Donziger knows what it takes to stand up to corporate power. He took on Chevron, won, and was put in prison for it. And now he’s backing our campaign to take on the insurance industry. Thank you @stevendonziger for your endorsement!

Insurance went from being a form of mutual aid to one of the most speculative, profitable industries on the planet.

The oligarchs are coming for every last tool the American people have ever used to restrain corporate abuse, deception, and overreach. It's a huge new front in the right's push for elite impunity, and it's not getting enough attention. newrepublic.com/article/2154…

To do so is the first step to drying up the flow of money from our bank accounts, insurance premiums, and pensions into fossil fuel pockets. (2/3) πŸ‘‡

Californians and their legislators have made it clear that they want to be the first to shed light on this dark flow of money. CARB can either do right by them and literally the entire planet, or cave to pressure from these industries to betray their mandate. (3/3)

It was 113 F in St. George last month and their Rep. Colin Jack is trying to pump more CO2 into the air. People are already dying from the heat there every year and it's only getting worse.
In which the Utah Legislature's resident energy expert (lol) tries to draw a distinction between carbon and carbon dioxide to sound smart while arguing for more hidden subsidies for fossil fuels to prop up a dying industry.

The little heard about insurance commissioners @naic can do SO MUCH to help out people crushed by the home insurance crisis. I asked every state regulator if they'd let us see the data. Result: some said yes, most played coy. Read: citizen.org/article/regulati…

JUST IN: Voters in Independence, Missouri's fifth largest city, have recalled a city council member who had supported a data center. This follows regular local elections in April where they ousted two city councilors for the same reason.
