I genuinely doubt any pain would hurt more than loving someone with the intention of spending the rest of your life with them, doing everything in your power to make the relationship work, making sacrifices, staying faithful, and giving them your absolute best, only to discover that throughout all of this, they were misleading you and entertaining someone else. Imagine pouring all your eggs into one basket because you genuinely believe you have found your last bus stop. You are making decisions with both of you in mind, sacrificing today for the future you hope to build together, and mentally preparing to spend the rest of your life with this person. Meanwhile, they have another person in the picture. The most painful part is realising that while you were trying to make the relationship work, you were the only one who understood how much was at stake. You were protecting something they were perfectly comfortable putting at risk. You were making sacrifices for a future they were not even sure they wanted with you. Cheating is painful, but discovering that someone allowed you to build your entire future around them while they were secretly keeping their options open is a different kind of heartbreak.
