My colleagues, Cody & STL, has spent quite a bit of time bringing constexpr <cmath> to MSVC. It was a massive undertaking but in the end MSVC will be able to provide extremely accurate results from these functions at compile-time!

Adobe used MSVC's sample-based profile-guided optimization to speed up Photoshop brush strokes, file opens, and filter execution on Windows: 20% faster on x64, 13% on ARM64. Profiles come from real release builds, no source rewrites. devblogs.microsoft.com/cppbl…

GitHub Copilot Build Performance helps reduce C++ build times by identifying expensive header includes, template instantiations, and function generation costs.
It then plans optimizations, with you in control.

GitHub Copilot CLI is now GA 🎉
This is agentic development, right in the terminal—planning, building, testing, and reviewing without context switching.
A big step forward in how developers work. 🚀

Another example from the back-end is the new dynamic debugging experience that lets you debug optimized code as if it were a debug build. The comment in that thread seems fairly sensational, but it does not imply Microsoft is giving up on C/C++ 😁

Changing a keyboard shortcut in Visual Studio feels simple… until you peek behind the curtain. 😅 Years of developer habits, multiple scopes, and even sequenced shortcuts all shape how each key press works.
