The theme of the night was clear: to keep pace with modern security needs, we must move away from slow, top-down procurement cycles. By cutting red tape, creating faster testing and investment pipelines, we can help agile UK firms collaborate with our Ukrainian allies at pace.
A packed room at Portcullis House on Tuesday 23 June for the Roundtable on the UK/EU-Ukraine Defence Innovation Corridor. Hosted by @GraemeDownieMP Downie MP and co-organised by ourselves and Tech Connecta Vertex, with a fantastic keynote from Defencr Minister @LukePollard. /1

A good start. The ideal is to build within British politics a cadre set wholesale against the United Nations "World Court", the International Criminal Court, and the very notion that Britain is subject to any foreign entity claiming to represent "international law".
The treaties we signed and @UKParliament agreed have always been clear - we didn't give the ICJ jurisdiction over the Chagos Islands. We should be defending the Chagossian people and the laws we signed, not bowing to expansionist courts reaching beyond their remit. Whose side is the Foreign Secretary on?

How normalized it has become, it used to be controversial. Now it’s completely normalized. Imagine if the word choice were different in a different country. Interesting

Quite disgusting racism from Likud.
In the streets of Jerusalem now a car with Likud flags and loudspeakers blaring the Muezzin call to prayer and “Get out of your homes now. Arabs are voting. You need to save our home!”

It's not. There used to be some old tangential connections between Ra'am and the Muslim Brotherhood, but they have been severed entirely.

If you fancy giving Ben Gvir, Smotrich and Netanyahu heart attacks, this video should do it. And Bibi I hope the Arabs vote in droves and help drive you out as leader and hopefully into jail.
"What's election day like in Israel?" Oh you know, pretty normal. Probably the same as every other country.

Just delightful videos of Bedouin Israeli voters riding camels to the polls, mostly to vote for Ra'am, an Islamist party with a Jewish #2 that could be the kingmaker in the election's outcome.

"The artificial and prolonged delays in the delivery of interceptor packages for Patriot and NASAMS systems, which unfortunately have occurred recently, are directly helping Russia achieve the objectives of its terrorist campaign," Zelensky again points the finger at Hegseth.
The number of people injured in the Russian strike on a university campus and the surrounding area yesterday evening has risen to 12. Five of them are students and university staff. While emergency services were helping people and dealing with the aftermath of the first strike, the Russians used ballistic missiles again. In total, 16 ballistic missiles were launched overnight. More than 280 drones as well. Tragically, there have been casualties and hits in Kyiv, including on the South Bridge. A serious escalation in Russia’s operation against our logistics. There were also strikes on the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. Almost everywhere, Russia’s targets were the energy sector, logistics, and ordinary urban infrastructure. The artificial and prolonged delays in the delivery of interceptor packages for Patriot and NASAMS systems, which unfortunately have occurred recently, are directly helping Russia achieve the objectives of its terrorist campaign. Every such delay means another Russian strike on one facility or another. Unfortunately, strikes are taking place every day. Russia is constantly taking new steps toward escalation. Pressure on Russia and real support for Ukraine are needed to change the situation. I thank everyone who truly supports our efforts to protect lives and understands the importance of support packages arriving on time. We must bring peace closer and save lives. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

At 6pm turnout was 9% higher than it was in 2022. If this remains the trend until voting ends, it could upend the pollsters predictions in various ways. An 80% turnout puts small parties at threshold risk. Which small parties? Probably not Raam, which are boosted by a rise in Arab turnout and probably not the Haredi parties who have a relatively stable base. But Lieberman is at risk. And so are Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, who are also vulnerable to a last-minute shift of coalition voters to Netanyahu.

Following CAA’s efforts, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has reversed its decision and charged a bus driver with a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence. One year ago today, a Jewish bus passenger in Hackney, North London, alleged that he was stuck on a bus after dropping his bank card into the driver’s cab and the driver refused to open the cab door or enable him to retrieve it. The driver is alleged to have made derogatory statements about Jews. The CPS initially decided not to bring charges. CAA is proud to have provided legal support to the passenger, following which the CPS has charged the driver with causing racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, contrary to section 31(1)(b) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The first hearing is scheduled to take place next month.
This appalling video speaks volumes. The driver of a London bus allegedly locked a Jewish passenger in for nearly an hour, withheld his bank card after it fell into the driver’s cab, and told him he resembled a “Mossad agent” and that he “doesn’t like Jewish people.” This incident will horrify decent people right across the country, who increasingly wonder what has happened to the UK we love. It is outrageous that anyone should be subjected to this kind of degrading treatment, let alone for being or simply just appearing to be Jewish. Allegedly trapping a passenger on a bus and subjecting him to antisemitic abuse is not merely disgraceful conduct; it is potentially criminal. We welcome urgent investigations by both TfL and the police. If the allegations are borne out, the driver would clearly need to be fired and TfL would need to issue an apology and offer compensation to the passenger. The driver has now been suspended pending investigation. Consequences must be delivered for any and all wrongdoing.

Trump’s son secretly went on vacation with a Putin’s oligarch: The two went hunting together in Mongolia this August. Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Mongolia accompanied by the U.S. Secret Service and Republican donor Kevin Small. Later, Umar Kremlev flew in from Kazakhstan to join him, accompanied by businessman Artur Martirosov. As a reminder, Kremlev reportedly previously paid for Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas in secret. And we wonder why Trump is pro-russian?! Source: Financial Times

There’s a feeling going around that the rising Arab turnout could put Lieberman’s Yisrael Beitenu in danger of dropping beneath the threshold. I’m doubtful, but even if it does happen, it will add perhaps 2-3 seats to the Netanyahu bloc, not enough to give them a majority. OTOH since Lieberman is the opposition leader who most strenuously opposed cooperation with Arab parties, it could make it easier for Eisenkot to quickly form a minority government with the outside support of Arab parties

Don’t get that pumped just yet, Serbia’s election-winning Student List intends to halt arms sales reaching Ukraine through Western intermediaries, while rejecting sanctions on Russia and remaining reliant on Russian gas. A change of government doesn’t necessarily mean a change of direction.
As Trump’s world starts to cave in, so does Putin’s. Make no mistake, he is under serious pressure.

What pisses me off about this, and Reform’s failure to condemn @RaheemKassam’s racist trope against @KemiBadenoch, is the double standard. If an academic had said about Jews what Cofnas says about black people, I doubt Oxford’s Reform society would platform him. If Raheem had used an antisemitic trope against Zac Goldsmith, @RobertJenrick, @danny__kruger and @Nigel_Farage would have had no difficulty condemning him and keeping their distance. So why should black Brits accept a lower standard? British Jews are right to demand zero tolerance of antisemitism in public life. Black Britons should demand exactly the same for anti-black racism. Just as British Jews & their supporters, like me have condemned the Green Party when antisemitism appears in its ranks, black Brits should condemn Reform UK when anti-black racism appears in theirs, and every fair-minded Brit should do the same.

The problem is Kassam spent the whole of Reform conference briefing journalists he was being lined up as Nigel Farage's chief of staff. He's recently spent a lot of time in Reform HQ. He constantly boasts about how close he is to Farage. So Farage can't "distance himself". He either cuts him loose. Or remains contaminated.
The problem with racial politics is that deniability is not always plausible. Raheem Kassam's "Nigeria" strategy is already rebounding; Farage is struggling to distance himself from him...
