The charming @mattyjcassidy (fresh off his tour with The Quireboys) and the delightful Simon Cohen return to The Lamb tomorrow night for a jolly entertaining musical performance. It'll all be rather fun.
Between 1985 and 1999 what is now The Lamb was known as The Flounder and Firkin. Here's a photo of Shane MacGowan wearing a Flounder t-shirt at the Pogues gig at Wembley Arena in October 1990.
House lager is now @PillarsBrewery Pilsner. These 4 are permanently on - all at the fairly reasonable price of £6 a pint. Guinness is £7 because it is stupidly expensive for us to buy. Umbrella cider £5.
We’re having a Sacred Spirits Summer featuring a different @SacredGin ‘Drink of the Week’. This week a simple (but very lovely) London Dry G&T. Next week might involve grapefruit. Weeks begin on Wednesday in The Lamb. Why? Who knows why… it’s just the way it is and that’s that!
On Saturday, Matty James Cassidy (the 2nd hippest man in the Northern postcodes) & Simon Cohen (the consumate fiddler) return to The Lamb for a night of singing, guitaring, violining & general merriment. It's always a fine evenng with these two charming chaps. Free in as always.
We have the mighty Crock of Bones back at the Lamb next Saturday night. If you've seen them before you'll know just how great they are - foot-stomping, table-banging folk n' roll. Some trad, some classics but mostly brilliant original songs.
We've made some flags for 'St George Was Actually Turkish Day' today.
In other news St Andrew came from Galilee not Glasgae.
The other side of Holloway Road in about 1900-ish. The part of Pugh Bros. (cash ironmongers) at number 99 is now @HammertonHouse. Conveniently, back then, you used to be able to get your bike fixed and pick up some step ladders from the same place.
The brilliant Shuko Fujita and her band Two Gun Mathilda at The Lamb last Saturday. A fabulous gig indeed - they'll be back!
Delighted to have a gig by the brilliant Two gun Mathilda on Saturday night. Inspired by 1950s and 60s R&B, soul and rock ’n’ roll, they're known for gritty vocals, driving grooves, and vintage sound. The band brings classic rhythm & blues into the present with a modern edge.
Our usual St Patrick's knees-up has been rather scuppered by Arsenal playing tomorrow, so we've shifted it to Wednesday. A wide selection of Irish indie beer (and if you must, Guinness) all at the bargain price of £6/pint.
We've brought a pallet of Irish indie beer over for St Patrick's & will be turning our rotating lines over to those for the week. For 1 night only, the 18th, we will be banging them out for bargain price of £5. @KinnegarBrewing @BeerHutBrewing @ModestBeer @TheWhiteHag & more!
Tonight! Matty and Simon will be joined by Tom Spencer (of the Men They Couldn't Hang/The Professionals/Banjoey Ramone fame). Shaping up to be a great evening - and free to get in of course!
Matty returns to The Lamb next weekend for an intimate performance blending modern folk, roots rock & classic songwriting. Accompanied on the fiddle Simon Cohen, they'll be playing a mix of original material alongside carefully chosen covers.
Music, art, poetry - without making too much of a fuss about it we are indeed the cultural hub of Highbury.
We're seeing the New Year in with some top DJ action. Jenny Drag (of The Priscillas), Dom Rock and (for your sins) Ade will be rocking your socks off until 2am. It's free, the drinks are reasonably priced and the staff will be delightful. Why be a dummy and go elsewhere?
Happy Christmas to everyone who has drunk, danced, fiddled, sung and/or put the world to rights in the pub this year. We've had a great year and 99.9% of you have been absolutely charming. We're open tonight, Xmas Eve, but may shut before midnight.
Dave the Keys has done a Xmas song in aid of London Inner City Kitties, a small volunteer run cat rehoming charity. CD has 3 versions of the song and comes with a lovely Xmas card. At least one version is available to stream on Spotify too. davethekeys.bandcamp.com/alb…
