Propaganda works today not despite our access to endless information, but largely because of it. In the past, propaganda relied on censorship and information scarcity. Today, it relies on information overload, exploiting the way the human brain is wired to survive in a chaotic environment. When you are hit with a firehose of data every day, you cannot possibly fact-check every claim, read every primary source, or analyze every statistical nuance.  To keep from stalling out, your brain falls back on ancient evolutionary shortcuts (heuristics). Modern propaganda is specifically engineered to hack those shortcuts.  1. The Paradox of Information Overload The human brain is an energy-hogging organ that constantly looks for ways to save effort. Behavioral psychologist Daniel Kahneman famously broke human thought into two modes: System 1 (fast, automatic, emotional, unconscious) and System 2 (slow, analytical, effortful, logical).  Because we are drowning in notifications, headlines, and conflicting data, our analytical System 2 gets exhausted quickly.  When overwhelmed, we default to System 1, relying on gut feelings, snappy headlines, and familiar sources to do the heavy lifting for us.  Having the world's knowledge in your pocket only helps if you have the time, energy, and motivation to verify something that already feels true.   2. The Illusory Truth Effect (Repetition Equals Reality) The brain does not have a built-in truth detector; instead, it uses cognitive fluency (how easy something is to process) as a proxy for truth.  When you hear a claim for the first time, your brain has to work a little to process it. The tenth time you see it across three different apps, your brain processes it effortlessly.  That feeling of familiarity gets misread by your brain as accuracy. Psychologists call this the illusory truth effect. Even if you initially know a statement is false or exaggerated, seeing it repeated across memes, clips, and comment sections slowly erodes your skepticism until it registers as baseline common sense.

Weird. You never mention the people that fund your party…
Since Trump’s election: -Musk got $680 billion richer -Musk became the 1st trillionaire -SpaceX got $10 billion in federal contracts -Tesla & SpaceX paid $0 in federal income taxes Now, Musk’s spending $442 million to keep Republicans in control of Congress. Gee, I wonder why?

For the fools out there, Zelensky himself posted about using Starlink for offensive drone strikes, which has always been against Starlink’s terms of service:

Yeah, this retard is so fucking dumb that he doesn’t realize that our policies serve the Ukrainian people. Pieces of shit like this want the war to continue until every last man in Ukraine has died in a ditch. They are utter scum of the Earth.

This is indeed one of the main reasons that Starlink must remain a civilian operation. It can be used for infrastructure that is military, but it cannot be used for unequivocally offensive strikes that make it fair game to be struck back. An adversary blowing up Starlink satellites would create a domino effect of destruction that would generate a vast field of debris making space unusable.

Correct. Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be. Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them. Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week. Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact. Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia. SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR. That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell. End of story.
STARLINK WORKS THE SAME WAY ITS ALWAYS WORKED. ITS NOT A WEAPONS SYSTEM, NO MATTER HOW MUCH UKRAINE WANTS IT TO BE.

We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Those who are opposed to corporations and favor government do not realize that government is simply the largest, most monopolistic corporation of all and it has a monopoly on violence.

What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

The playbook will go something like this: 1) win back the House and Senate, and hopefully the Presidency in 2028; (2) admit DC and Puerto Rico as states, which doesn’t need a constitutional amendment, to gain 4 new Senate seats and cement control; (3) pack the Court, which only requires a change to the Judiciary Act of 1869, not a constitutional amendment; (4) eliminate the electoral college, which is unconstitutional, but not when you have a rigged court that finds the ‘loophole’; (5) flood the country with pliant migrants, swamp the natives, and hold power indefinitely.
Hillary wants the Supreme Court expanded to 13 Justices -- but not until "Democrats are in power." Because it's all about making the court less partisan and has nothing to do with entrenching Democrat power, of course.

3. Confirmation Bias and the "Illusion of Research" Access to infinite information is a double-edged sword: it means there is enough raw data out there to "prove" almost any narrative if you cherry-pick hard enough. We don't approach information like neutral scientists looking to disprove our hypotheses; we approach it like lawyers looking to defend a verdict we've already reached. When people say, "I did my own research," what often happens psychologically is motivated reasoning. With search engines and recommendation algorithms, if you have a hunch or a bias, you can find ten articles, three podcasts, and a chart to validate it within thirty seconds. That gives people the confidence of being well-informed while actually locking them deeper into a tailored narrative. 4. Algorithmic Precision and Emotional Hijacking Old-school propaganda was a blunt instrument: one radio broadcast or poster aimed at millions of people. Modern propaganda is micro-targeted and driven by engagement algorithms.  Social platforms don't optimize for truth; they optimize for attention and retention. And nothing holds human attention quite like moral outrage, fear, and disgust.  When propaganda triggers anger or fear, it activates the amygdala, which actively suppresses the prefrontal cortex (the part of the brain responsible for nuanced, critical thinking). Once you're emotionally hijacked, you aren't looking for context; you're looking for an enemy or a validation of your threat response.  5. Identity and Tribal Survival For most of human history, being cast out of your tribe meant death. Because of that, our brains often prioritize social belonging over objective accuracy.  Effective propaganda rarely just sells a dry fact; it ties a belief to who you are (a patriot, a free thinker, a protector, a rebel).  Once a narrative becomes fused with your identity and your social circle, admitting the narrative is false carries a steep social and psychological cost. Questioning the narrative starts to feel like betraying your team, which triggers painful cognitive dissonance. To avoid that discomfort, the brain will effortlessly rationalize away contradictory facts, no matter how accessible they are.  6. The "Firehose of Falsehood" (Cynicism as the Goal) A major misconception is that propaganda is always designed to make you believe a specific lie. Often, modern propaganda is designed to make you believe nothing at all. By flooding the zone with dozens of conflicting theories, deepfakes, and half-truths, propagandists create epistemological exhaustion. When regular people throw their hands up and say, "Everyone is lying, you can't trust anything anymore," propaganda has succeeded. Once people give up on the idea of objective, verifiable truth, they simply retreat to whatever narrative benefits their tribe or feels most comfortable.

We are launching the Tesla Robotaxi safety report today. Till date, Robotaxi has driven a total of 3.3 million miles autonomously, and has had zero injuries nor airbag deployments. If the same number of miles were to be manually driven, we should expect roughly 9 injuries to the occupants or other pedestrians and 4 airbag deployments on average. We will continue to transparently share our progress with the public using this page. tesla.com/robotaxi/safety
