🚨IRS just introduced a new tax credit up to $1,700, or $3,400 for married couples, starting 2027.
It's called the Education Freedom Tax Credit
Here's everything you need to know:
Living life together with a community of believers makes a difference. God wired us to be in a relationship with Him and with the people around us.
I created two indexes of religious behavior.
One is private acts like reading holy texts, reading devotionals, watching services online.
The other is social acts like attending in person worship, attending small groups, and speaking to others about religion.
No matter how high one scores on the private dimension, happiness doesn't change at all.
But as social religious behavior increases, so does self-reported happiness.

Congregations grow when they:
1. have a pastor who works hard
2. have a pastor who is a solid preacher
3. are in growing areas
4. have a history of being stable and normal
In Lutheran Land, people are still repeating this decades old line that the way to bring people into your congregation is through "relevant" forms of worship. But you can look at the statistics of our biggest congregations that are the most dedicated to the whole Praise Band Pastor Blue Jeans thing and the vast majority of them are waaaaay down in attendance over the past 10 years.
The exceptions that I know of are congregations with pastors who, despite the evangelical style trappings, are pretty solid gospel preachers.
And I see this in my own circles. I know of liturgical congregations that have grown and ones that have withered despite facing similar demographic landscapes. The difference is that those that have grown had pastors who worked hard and preached faithfully and the people were friendly and inviting and the ones that withered were served by lazy guys with Correct Theology and/or who sometimes had congregations that would chase off anybody he might bring in right away.
The moral of the story is that "young people want the liturgy" and "young people want praise bands" are both somewhat false narratives.
I've seen a lot of people still struggling with understanding what happened at the end of the UM WMU game. With the release of what I consider to be the best angle (shows both the play and the in-stadium clock in HD), I did my best to provide context surrounding the play.
I canceled a roof estimate appointment because they refused to meet with me unless my wife would be present. Is this normal?

“Father I keep confessing the same sins”
I promise you, God is not looking for originality from you here.

The summit is a nice idea. The next handhold is the only thing any of us can actually do something about.
I am worried that altar and pulpit fellowship does not actually exist inside the LCMS. Some pastors will not be accepted in other congregations, and some pastors have marked certain congregations as places they encourage their members not to attend.
I think it is a mistake to fix the whole US soccer system in an attempt to produce World Cup players. Soccer should be a lifelong sport. I am not convinced our system should be geared toward World Cup success. I think World Cup success follows a healthy sport culture.

I cannot stop watching this clip. The way he emphasized “I DEFEND IT!” Is so funny to me! 😂😂😂

I think that I'm going to end up more disappointed in our Synod than in whoever wins the election. The things people are willing to say about brothers in Christ are things that shouldn't even be thought...much less posted openly online (mostly on Facebook).
The amount of spam texts and phone calls I’ve received in the last week has skyrocketed. What gives?

The USMNT vs. Belgium game is gonna be tough to watch with both teams wearing white 😭
I find the white backside of the USA jerseys hard to distinguish from the Belgium jerseys when the camera shows the players facing away from the camera.
