I saw @MarkHalperin ask, the other day, why Trump and Vance weren't doing another round with podcasters? My assumption: They feel duped, they had him on mic saying he'd release the Epstein files and prevent wars, and don't want to be cheap dates again.
Joe Rogan, quoted by Bloomberg. “What Trump stood for, some of it turned out to not be real. Like one of them was the no wars. Well, look, we’re at war with Iran. So that wasn’t real.” bloomberg.com/news/features/…

"What Trump stood for, some of it turned out to not be real."
“Are we really going to be the Gestapo?" Joe Rogan, who endorsed Donald Trump in 2024, has become a more skeptical voice about some of his most controversial policies, like ICE raids bloomberg.com/news/features/…

If Collins loses it will be in no small part because heating oil costs are exploding. You’d think she’d want to avoid all related topics. Bold to choice to bring up buying firewood at a moment when a lot of Maine families are going to struggle to heat their homes this winter lol.
FINAL STRETCH: A new Susan Collins campaign ad includes this line on Troy Jackson: “I also know Troy Jackson. But we're not talking about buying a cord of wood here. We're sending someone to the US Senate, and Troy doesn't have the tools he needs to be effective.”

This is bizarre: A new super PAC that formed days ago (so it won't have to disclose donors) is spending six figures boosting minor-party candidates in a slew of close House races. All of the spends are for digital ads and to a Delaware company that incorporated two weeks ago.

Center Forward, a dark-money group focused on moderate politics that was very active in backing Haley Stevens this summer, put $1.8 million into the super PAC behind Susan Collins this month, per new filing.

I was a teacher before law school. I couldn’t convince teenagers to wear deodorant. The idea that teachers are convincing kids that they should get sex changes is utterly ludicrous.

1/ Mind blowing story about Trump accounts by @RichardRubinDC & @ashleaebeling. Under Treasury's new rules, a company can donate stock to a child's Trump account; parents can’t pick the stocks, reject donated shares, or sell for 5 years. Some possible implications...

Now they're saying the cabinet secretary who spits in his food when he's mad has an anger issue.
NEW: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently said in an interview that he believes in the idea of "fired if fired upon" in how to respond to people. Inside Treasury, his management of the agency has featured him, at times, ripping into agency staff and battling with officials leading to multiple departures. Some of his defenders, including former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, admit Bessent has a temper, is intense, passionate and demanding but that's all by design to keep Treasury staff in check with the president's agenda. "He brings a Wall Street mentality to Washington," another said. Our deep dive on what's been happening in an agency that's seen high turnover with alumni of Bessent's hedge fund coming in to help him. I think people would have reacted to the railroad very differently if Cornelius Vanderbilt kept saying the trains are alive and want to kill you.
This kind of public panic is something I have never seen in living memory. Probably nothing like it since the Industrial Revolution. We seem to have adapted to other innovations like computerization, process optimization, the car, and air travel without this kind of mass panic.

Theo Von and Zohran Mamdani talk about their favorite fish. Theo correctly points out they are constantly forcing new fish on diners, and it makes him skeptical. The mayor restates his preference for Tilapia and Branzino.

Trump’s plan for an upscale golf course could destroy a D.C. haven for cyclists and runners. Administration won’t say what will become of Ohio Drive — Trump has told people he wants the loop road gone — stirring fears among those who use the space daily. wapo.st/46XeZTk
