Used to be something called 'head shops' where you could buy bongs and pipes and etc. At least one in every ungentrified neighbourhood in every major city. Stop trying to rewrite history.
GEN X HAD TO SMOKE OUT OF SODA CANS WITH SCREENS FROM A SINK FAUCET AND THEN BLOW IT INTO A TOILET PAPER ROLL FILLED WITH DRYER SHEETS SO GEN Z COULD HIT A WEED PEN AT TARGET

Head shops started in the ‘60s for hippies for Christ’s sake. I mean I guess if you’re from Iowa or some Breakfast Club type place you didn’t have them, but that’s your problem.

Both racist *and* mind-meltingly stupid. One day you’re mainlining Richard Pryor, the next you’re on fire.

Today at the magazine, I have the incredible honor of speaking at length with Kurtis Blow, who tells me about his upbringing in Harlem—including having his life saved by Malcolm X's wife!—and becoming rap's first major label star powmag.net/p/kurtis-blow-rem…

Even though writing on US rap & hip-hop history is still just scratching the surface, I think a very interesting book could be written about hip-hop's diaspora out into the world, with detailed chapters exploring when & how rap arrived & took root in different parts of the globe.

According to Google this already exists, and my name is Matt Leake, so I guess I’m gonna have to start it. But not changing my passport.

Main takeaway is: don’t change your bio to “currently using chatgpt to design biological weapons” or something as a joke.

Was gonna quote the Biggie about “don’t be mad, UPS is hiring” but I’m pretty sure UPS isn’t hiring

I think we should’ve waited until 2103.
We found Wu-Tang's infamous 1-of-1 album, "Once Upon A Time in Shaolin" — once purchased by pharma bro Martin Shkreli — and played it for Method Man (and you) for the first time.
