The 2003 Tigers lost 119 games, a then-American League record that had stood since 1916. Just three years later, Detroit finished with 95 wins and ended a 19-year Postseason drought
The remarkable turnaround reached its climax OTD 20 years ago, when Magglio Ordóñez crushed a walk-off 3-run homer to send the @Tigers to the World Series

Tigers infielder Kevin McGonigle is BA's 2026 MLB Rookie of the Year 🎖️
McGonigle authored one of the strongest debut seasons of any player in baseball history. In his age 21 season, the former first-rounder posted an AL-leading 7.1 bWAR, slashing .278/.376/.430 and adding his first MLB All-Star Game appearance.
McGonigle is the first Detroit Tiger since Justin Verlander (2006) to win BA's MLB Rookie of the Year.
