Not so fast. Section 10.1 of the Alberta Human Rights Act allows for preferential hiring based on race, etc. Bill 33 does not repeal Section 10.1. Instead, the Bill adds a bunch of weasily prohibitions and exceptions for provincial bodies. If they meant it, they could just repeal section 10.1. And they should have invoked the Notwithstanding Clause (section 33) of the Charter. They haven't, so provincial bodies in Alberta will still be subject to section 15(1) and (2) of the Charter, which allow (and sometimes may require) reverse discrimination.
‼️NUKES FIRED!! --- Alberta just tabled Bill 33 and it NUKES DEI and wokism across the public sector. The Justice Statutes Amendment Act, 2026 (No. 2) bans preferential hiring and promotion based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other “personal characteristics” in government agencies, schools, universities, municipalities, and Crown entities. Banned outright: Ameliorative (DEI) hiring and promotion programs Mandatory training on DEI, unconscious bias, or cultural competency Any required training that dictates political, historical, or social opinions or pushes identity-based moral superiority and preferential treatment Merit is back. Ideological loyalty tests are out. This is the most BASED law of 2026!

"The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers" Do politicians ever learn? They really want the Freedom Coalition out of the party... and they are going to blow up the party to prove it. youtu.be/-wntX-a3jSY?si=iiL0…

What Smith is doing right now in her current moves and announcements clearly demonstrates she will stand on any side of the political spectrum to try to keep her chair. She has no principles or moral compass, only power. Smith is switching gears because she knows she will lose calgary in the next election so all her policy and narrative is to the Liberal UCP and light NDP voters. Her nine questions destroyed whatever “light NDP” support she may have had. She told her rural support to fall in line which only lit a fuse. Neither will work. @ABDanielleSmith has bad advisors and no moral compass. If Danielle Smith and the UCP need moral direction they need to follow what Alberta Renewal has proposed to regain support. See image below. Sign a unity pact proposed and make the UCP conservative again. @UCPCaucus #AlbertaFirst #AlbertaRenewal #UCP #NOTndp

Good analysis from the establishment's #1 boogeyman.
Took a week to think about what happened last Monday, here is a comprehensive analysis with a suggested path foward.

This is called finding a new base. After reviewing the numbers, Smith has decided that the fringe minority is not a winning ticket and is now looking for a winning coalition in the center. Remember when Kenney said he needed a new base? Danielle is copying that strategy She is pushing out the Freedom Coalition that removed Kenney and got her installed as Premier. In their fight to secure their rights and freedoms, the Freedom Coalition joined the independence train. Most independence supporters moved to that position to fight for the rights and freedoms they believe they are slowly losing under the current (and past) Liberal government. Smith and the UCP need to win Calgary to keep power in 2027. After reviewing the referendum numbers in Calgary and the byelection loss, Smith saw that the only way forward in Calgary in the next election is to drop the Freedom Coalition and hope rural areas are too afraid of Nenshi to vote for anything but UCP blue. She is moving to the center to appeal to the middle 40% of undecided voters in urban areas and crossing her fingers that she can sell the Team Blue vs Team Orange story to the rurals in a second election. The establishment is spending thousands and thousands of dollars to take control of the provincial board from the Freedom Coalition so things can get back to the way they used to be, where the grassroots show up to vote once every four years and pay their taxes annually, instead of actually having a voice influencing Alberta politics. We find ourselves right back in 2017, when Kenney united the right, but now Smith, instead of uniting the factions, is demanding that the Wildrose side of the party sit down, shut up and don’t embarrass the PC side of things. Kenney made the truce, and Smith blew it up. Smith is a smart, intelligent politician, and she is trying to play a masterful political game for the upcoming election. The only problem for her is that while Albertans love leadership, they absolutely hate politicians and their political games.

My gut feeling is the BC Conservatives are going to win a crushing victory, act exactly like Doug Ford in office, and then proceed to win a decade of crushing victories but nothing in BC gets better.

This might be the wildest minimum wage statistic I've ever seen. In 1971, the federal minimum wage was $1.60 per hour. Gold averaged $40.92 per ounce. It took 26 hours of minimum-wage labor to earn an ounce of gold. In 2025, the federal minimum wage was $7.25. Gold averaged $3,432 per ounce. It took 473 hours of labor to earn that same ounce. Your hourly wage increased 4.5× in dollars. The amount of labor required to acquire gold increased 18.5×. Measured in gold, the federal minimum wage lost approximately 95% of its value. Fifty-four years of nominal wage increases, and one hour of work buys a fraction of the monetary asset it once did.

I wish the Media would stop pretending like he didn't say this, and that it wasn't written on his petition. Yes, he checked off "policy proposal," but his "policy" was to have a referendum on the question we just had. You're doing no one any favours by dealing in half-truths

This is a historic article by @MailynSpeaks. She sets out the underlying case for free cities (@freecitiesfound), contrasting them with her Cuban upbringing, and offers angles relevant to Western Canada. "Builders matter more than ideological purity. The test is not whether everyone living in a jurisdiction has read the same economists. The test is whether the institutions work for the people using them." mailynsalabarria.substack.co…

Want to have your mind blown? In 1971, the median household income was $9,030, or 220 ounces of gold. In 2025, it was $87,460, or just 25 ounces of gold. Your paycheck went up 10x. Measured in gold, it fell 88%. To earn what the median household earned in 1971, you’d need about $890,000 per year today. That’s what fiat debasement looks like.

Hungary sent 200,000 men to help Hitler destroy the Soviet Union. On the Don in January 1943, the Red Army smashed that army in a matter of weeks. Hungary declared war on the USSR on June 27, 1941, five days after Germany invaded. Its 2nd Army held the Don south of Voronezh. The Soviet assault began on January 12, 1943, and Hungarian defenses collapsed within days. Around 120,000 Hungarian soldiers were killed, wounded or captured. On January 24 their own commander, Colonel General Gusztáv Jány, wrote in an order that "the 2nd Army has lost its honour." What was left of it was pulled off the front and used for rear duty. Hungary was one of many. Romania, Italy, Finland, Slovakia, Croatia and Spain's Blue Division all sent troops east with the Wehrmacht. The West tells the war as Germany against everyone. On the Eastern Front it was half of Europe against the USSR. Every one of those countries is in NATO today.
