Perhaps one benefit of fear is that it might drive us to trust. Whether we are in a therapy group, on a field trip to the airport, to work on our phobias, or we are in worship, thinking of the circumstances that frighten us — let us apply our faith to our fear.

There were four people in the church: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. The church had financial obligations. Everybody was asked to help. Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it. But you know who did it?
Nobody.
For some reason I am thinking about the late Helen Keller today. Among her many great quotes:
• The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.
• Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
• Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Agree?

I had a monthly subscription to Mister Car Wash. For $19.99 a month I could go to any of their locations twice a day. I would tell everyone I could about the great deal I had with Mister Car Wash.
Was I as bold and eager to tell everyone about my faith in #Jesus the Christ?

Some people wear their faith on their sleeves. Some put it on their plates! “Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.”-Acts 9:31 (NKJV)
Whenever I traveled, especially internationally, I had to pinch myself and give thanks to the #God who opened doors of opportunity for this guy from the Bronx. When you were a kid, did you dream of traveling to parts of the world you’d only seen in pictures? I did. And I got to!

When my beloved Timothy was actually small, he loved to play under a blanket. He’d say, “Daddy, let’s go under,” then we’d put it over our heads. Let me suggest that we go under. Saints, let us earn the right to lead because we ourselves are led, under the authority of our God.

Read Psalm 56:3-4. Even though spoken by the psalmist, this text begins with an assumption that offends me: it makes fear sound inevitable. As a tough New Yorker, I don’t wish to admit that I am ever afraid! Psalmist, what do you mean “whenever?” YOU’RE not ever afraid, are you?

My pastor, Dr. Tony Evans, began his book “Your Comeback” with this:
“If there’s one thing you can count on in your life, it’s that your path will not always be easy. It happens to all of us sometimes.”
You've been there, haven't you? #God can help us, in ways most practical.
