Some African parents are so obsessed with raising perfect daughters that they forget they have sons to raise too. Then we wonder why so many men grow up without knowing how to behave.
I have a neighbour with two children, a girl who is about 13 and a boy who is around 7 or 8.
Whenever this woman gets home, it’s almost always the same thing. She’s shouting at the girl, scolding her, or beating her over one thing or another. And I mean serious beating!
But I have never heard this woman shout at the boy, not even once.
Does this boy never do anything wrong? Or is his sister the only child who needs discipline?
This is one of the problems with how some parents raise their children. They put so much pressure on their daughters to be well behaved, responsible, and perfect, while their sons are allowed to get away with things their sisters would be punished for.
You cannot raise daughters to be responsible women while neglecting to teach your sons to be responsible men.

At what point did dressing half-naked become a fashion statement?
She is obviously very uncomfortable in that dress, so why wear it? There are even better ways she could have styled and paired it up with something else without being revealing.

I thought everyone on X were earning above 500k per month with the way we belittle people’s income on here?
So who are those complaining that they can’t afford 26k for application fees for a course that was supposed to be 400k?
Another episode on X is not a real place.
Real life will humble you.

In all of this Tsacademy and don baba thing. My own take away is.
If you want to make money, you don't have to charge a lot.
Provide service for a lot of people and charge small token.
It's a game of number.
If you like, don't learn your own lesson from it.

There's a difference between:
1.) “TS Academy is offering 100% tuition waiver across different tech skills, including 50 free laptops and data support for up to 500 students.
To secure your place, you’ll pay an acceptance fee of ₦26,500. This helps us confirm genuine commitment and covers onboarding.
Apply here.....”

The first one clearly mentions the acceptance fee for prospective applicants to see, so they can easily decide whether or not they want to apply. That way, anybody who applies already knows they'll still pay a token, which is definitely a fair price.
But the second one doesn't indicate there's a fee; most applicants will have happily rushed to register before finally realizing there's still an amount to pay. It'll come as a shock: “I thought this was free!”
But, well, I understand it's a marketing style, which helps them get more people on their email list.
Still, what people are saying is that they should have made it clear from the beginning that you'll still have to pay a token. It shouldn't be something you realize later after all the excitement.
I don't think anyone is saying the fee is bad. The fact that it's not revealed immediately is where the problem lies.
And this definitely has nothing to do with Don Jazzy.

I have never gone about insulting people just because I don't agree with them, but it's very convenient for you guys to do it to me and my family even when you could've easily ignored me.

May their souls rest in peace. 🕊️❤️
But why post them, though? Does anyone on the TL know them personally?
I understand the intention might be to mourn them, but I sometimes wonder what the point of posting people we don’t know personally is, especially when nobody here can reach out to their families or offer any form of support.

Thank you so much for this information.
Now, you see this your questions:
‘What happens after the training?
Who teaches you how to find clients, price your services, build a portfolio, compete for jobs, and convince people to trust you with their money?
What happens when you finish the course and discover that getting your first paying client is harder than learning the skill itself?’
After 2months of Graphic Design training in @TechSphereAcad , our facilitator/trainer used 2-3 weeks to drill us on those unclear questions. He literally invited his own colleague and friend that’s an experienced and successful designer to come lecture us on the business side of the course. For 2-3 weeks nothing like designing…. All that were discussed were practical and real life engagement on how to build your portfolio, what you need, how to poach clients, how to pitch yourselves and preparing a detailed rate card as brand either business or personal.
At the end of the 2-3weeks of that engagement, I designed and developed the rate card Daddy Dabz Media House which I’ve been using till date. Our instructor even went further to advise us to design our own respective invoices as tailored to our brand as freelancers or standalone consultants.
Las las, the Academy matters and this is why dealing with professionals that’s in tune with industry standards matters and that’s what I enjoyed with @TechSphereAcad .
Dem no pay me oh! I’m just dishing out my raw experience.

……..
And that brings me to the conversation about tech training in Nigeria.
I’m not saying tech skills are useless. Neither am I saying nobody makes money from them. People do, and some earn very well.
But I think we need to stop selling tech courses as though learning the skill automatically translates into financial freedom.
What happens after the training?
Who teaches you how to find clients, price your services, build a portfolio, compete for jobs, and convince people to trust you with their money?
What happens when you finish the course and discover that getting your first paying client is harder than learning the skill itself?
These are questions people deserve answers to BEFORE paying for training.
And let’s talk about the Nigerian market too.
Imagine spending months learning web development, writing code, building a website, fixing bugs, and making sure everything works, only to struggle to convince a client to pay ₦150,000 for the finished product.
Some people will even expect you to do it for much less.
Yes, there are clients who pay well. Yes, there are people earning good money from tech. But those opportunities don’t automatically come to everyone who completes a course.
The problem isn’t teaching people tech skills. The problem is making people believe the certificate is a direct ticket to a better life without preparing them for what comes after the classroom.
Before we keep promoting academies and advertising how much money people can make from tech, let’s also talk about the people who paid, completed their training, and are still struggling to earn from what they learned.
How are they doing?
