Respectfully, City Council passes bills all the time where they have no clue what the hell they do. And the way this works, you have 30 days from introduction to the committee hearing to figure out what the bills do, and try to make some kind of case about them

At what point do we conclude that, no matter how useful they are, LLMs are a defective product? Like asbestos or cigarettes?

Most run-to-earn apps pay you in their own token. The big ones are down 94–99.9% from their peak. Why that happens, and why Run Money has no token 🧵

Dang y'all, thanks. Extremely grateful for the support. It truly means a lot. Time to get (back) to work!
We’re unironically humbled, honored and proud to announce 127 people backed us in @OctantApp's Epoch 13! Turns out privacy requires B2B sales too. Paraphrasing Eric Hughes, we must better sell people on privacy if we expect to have any. Time to lock in on Umbra v2. Onward.

You've likely received a message from me about this over the past few days. This is an open source privacy project @ScopeLift has been building since 2020 as a public good. As we can't monetise it, we need all the help we can summon to complete v2. $20 in ETH is all it takes!
We now have flying cars. Can we have private payments by default? Back Umbra v2 and other projects in @OctantApp’s privacy round so we can unlock the 100 ETH matching pool. Round closes Oct 21. And small contributions count the most! Let's build Privacy City together 👇

At @ScopeLift, we've been working on @UmbraCash since 2020. It's open source privacy tech that we've built solely from grant funding. We don't monetize it. It's a public good. Please consider supporting the project in the ongoing @OctantApp round. epoch.octant.app/rounds/0x57…

reminds me of @tjayrush's TrueBlocks (fmrly quickblocks)... Different... but same vibe.

Nearly $2,000. By my calculation, that is what the Iran war has cost the average American household since the war began nearly eight months ago. Nationwide, that adds up to $265 billion.

Here’s a solution to the problem with compromised public key cryptography: multiple people should write it all down on a piece of paper, and then we can figure it out later.

I spent years advocating for a new kind of web where you owned your own content. Worked on tools for decentralized storage, blockchain usernames, p2p networking. Last week I asked an agent to scour the web for everything I ever posted on flickr, posterous, mirror, medium and the internet archive etc and to convert it into files I own locally. I took back control of my own content and digital life and all I needed was git and markdown. blog.vandesande.design

Mayor @ZohranKMamdani on cutting down wasteful budget spending: There was waste. There's also this addiction to consulting. When we looked at the city budget, we realized we had to save money through efficiency. So we set up something called 'Chief Savings Officers' in every department. We saved $94M just by renegotiating contracts to a better rate. We saved $24M by letting go of unused office space. I believe that government has to be the most excellent, efficient version of itself to be worthy of people's trust.
