For a tree to bear fruit, it must be exposed to both sunlight and rain. Likewise, for a man to become fruitful, he must experience both good and bad times.
A tree cannot flourish on sunlight alone. It needs the rain too. In the same way, a life of nothing but comfort may never produce the strength, wisdom, resilience and experience required for true success.
Sometimes, the seasons you wish would pass are the very seasons preparing you to bear fruit.

Today, his tourism businesses earn an estimated $8M a year (over UgShs32B), and he has put a Ugandan mountain on the world running map.

Born in 1973 in Namisindwa, Eastern Uganda, to a modest family.
In 2001, he started Great Lakes Safaris with that $200: a briefcase, a receipt book, and an office under a staircase in Kampala.
His secret? A good name is gold.
Be reliable and clients come back.
He became the first Ugandan to build accommodation inside a national park (Murchison Falls).

👉 His lodge brand, The Great Lakes Collection, includes Budongo Eco Lodge (Murchison Falls), Simba Safari Camp and Elephant Plains (Queen Elizabeth), Primate Lodge Kibale and Mwamba Lodge Tarangire in Tanzania
👉 Hundreds of jobs created
👉 2022 AHIF Outstanding Contribution to Africa Award
👉 New lodges planned in Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda
With time, then he came up with the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon
👉 A 15-year dream, launched in 2022 with a flag raised on the Rwenzori peaks
👉 2025: about 6,000 runners showed up from 50 countries
👉 Reported growth from 1,000 to 10,000 climbers since 2022
👉 2026: Shs3.7B (about $1M) government boost, plus Shs100M (about $27,000) from Britam and Shs20M (about $5,400) from UDB
👉 Now the marathon has World Athletics Label status
His next goal is Ugandan athletes ranked among the world's best within 5 years which is achievable ofcos to him.
The lesson? You don't need big money. You need vision, patience and a clean name.

For a young lawyer, who is a First Generation Lawyer in his family, you have to be visible.
Visibility is incumbent in this 21st century profession, if you really want to thrive except you still want to be an analogue lawyer.
Let people know what you do and how competent you are in handling legal issues.
However visibility without competence is like a house built without foundation, sooner or later the house would collapse, clients would abandon you if they realize that you cannot deliver your professional task.
As you embark on visibility, also try and be competent by increasing your drafting and advocacy skills, read at least one judgement of the Apex Court everyday, also try and consult Seniors when you are faced with a complex legal issues.

UPDATE: The Constitutional Court has declared Section 115 of the Penal Code Act, which criminalises molesting the modesty of a woman, unconstitutional on grounds that it is discriminatory. The court has ordered the Attorney General to table an amendment Bill in Parliament within 12 months of the judgment. The court also nullified Section 42 of the Magistrates Courts Act, which provides for private prosecutions, ruling that it improperly allows magistrates to conduct investigations, draw charge sheets and subsequently preside over the same cases. The Attorney General has been directed to propose amendments allowing private prosecution charges to be drawn by the complainant or the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Tororo Municipality MP @shyamtanna_ Jay Tanna, who told @Parliament_Ug he exports to Congo, said Congolese buyers "come with piles and piles of US dollars" and stagger their payments, because cash above US$10,000 attracts a handling charge.
He urged that bringing South Sudan and the DRC onto the regional payment system be a priority, saying it would "push our exports."
