I still don’t know if I have BPD, but reading the posts of people on here (even those in good faith) who describe it as being draining, soul crushing and manipulative to date/be around them makes me wonder if I’m a lot worse than I think I am and if I’ve really changed that much

BPD is the only illness where the symptoms get filed under personality. Depression gets sympathy because it's legible. you're sad, you're in bed, people get it. BPD presents as behavior. you text too much, you go cold, you block someone, you're fine then you're not. All of it looks like choices. So everyone concludes it's your temperament, and temperament doesn't get flowers.
