Social media has brought us astonishing affairs. When we add Quranic recitation to a social media video, that recitation should be the main focus of that video. Allah commands us to listen to the Quran when it is recited. The Quran should not be used as "background noise" for your latest product video or community event shorts. This is not why Allah revealed the Quran.

Tonight, by the permission of Allah, we began our study of Al-Lu’lu’ wa al-Marjan fima Ittafaqa ‘Alayhi al-Shaykhan, by Shaykh Fu’ad Abd al-Baqi. We opened with advice from our teacher, al-Muhaddith Muqbil al-Wadi’i, who recommended studying this work along with Riyad al-Salihin and other books. Next, we examined the background, arrangement, and content of the book, reading from the works of al-‘Allamah Shaykh Abd al-Muhsin al-‘Abbad. Next, we started the chapter concerning the grave sin of lying upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reading benefits from the works of al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, al-Hafiz al-Nawawi, al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad al-Ithyubi, and others. Among the narrations we covered was the narration of Anas, who said, “What prevents me from narrating more from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is that I heard him say, ‘Whoever intentionally lies upon me, let him take his seat in the Fire.’” This shows the great caution and care of the noble Companions when narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This was the first of what we hope, Allah willing, will be many more lessons from this important book. May Allah grant us success in our study of the Prophetic Sunnah. youtu.be/aArbhBwCCQU?is=HQyl…

A Note about the Recent Conference… Bismillāh walhamdu lillāh was-Salātu was-Salām ‘alā Rasoolillāh. Amma ba’d. This past weekend, by The Permission of Allāh (‘Azza WaJall), we completed a Knowledge-based conference on the book The Beneficial Means to a Happy Life by Ash-Shaykh ‘Abdur-Rahmān As-Sa’dī (Rahimahullāh). The Prophet (SallAllāhu ‘alayhi waSallām) said: ‘He does not thank Allāh he who does not thank the people.’ After thanking Allāh (SubhānaHu WaTa’Alā), we thank our asātithah, Muhammad Amīn Al Jazā’irī and Ahmed Fathī for taking time out of their schedule to travel to and benefit our community. We also thank the volunteers and attendees who, in various capacities, assisted with the conference. It was heart-warming to be joined by brothers who travelled from other communities including Kitchener, Toronto and Montreal. The conference touched on a number of topics including: Thankfulness to Allāh; The Decree of Allāh and patience therewith; and Islāmically Legislated means to achieve success. We also received different notes of appreciation from conference attendees. We ask Allāh (‘Azza WaJall) To Accept and Bless the efforts of all involved And To Grant everyone an increase in beneficial knowledge and righteous action.

"Whoever does righteous deeds, male or female, while a believer, We shall grant them a good life." [al-Nahl, 97] Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Saʿdī (رحمه الله), while receiving medical treatment in Lebanon, was advised by his doctors to rest from reading and writing. His son ended up gifting him Dale Carnegie's, “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living". The Shaykh read it in full, described its author as "a reasonable man" then the shaykh asked for paper and pens to be purchased. The result was "The Beneficial Means to a Happy Life" (الوسائل المفيدة للحياة السعيدة): a short treatise of immense benefit that treats worry and grief through īmān, tawakkul, and gratitude. Join us this weekend in Ottawa for a conference dedicated to studying this treatise and living by its lessons إن شاء الله [This incident was narrated by the shaykh’s son in his book, مواقف اجتماعية من حياة الشيخ العلامة عبد الرحمن بن ناصر السعدي ص. ١٢٩]

Some Observations. Yet another ignorant, foolish extremist Khārijī becomes a convenient tool for Islamophobes and racists. Another one who has been gro*med, prepared, and sent out to misrepresent Islam and malign its true and noble message. This ignoramus has clearly never studied Islam, nor has he sat with the Muslim scholars to learn about Islam, its creed, values, laws, and ethics. His rhetoric is deliberately volatile and hostile. He is not a caller to the religion of Allāh, nor a caller to the Path and Methodology of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and his Companions. The Prophet (ﷺ) described his ilk in his saying: “There will arise at the end of the time a people who will be young in age and foolish in thought. They will speak as if their words are the best among people. They will recite the Qur’ān, but it will not go beyond their throats, and they will pass through the religion just as an arrow goes through its prey…” (Muslim, no. 1066) So this man is a trial for the people and for the Muslims in particular. He conducts an interview in Britain whilst wearing military fatigues and a red scarf that is supposed to identify him as a Muslim from the Middle East. He then proceeds to speak about Islam, the Islamic faith and Islamic law as though he is a religious authority, a jurist or a scholar of the Prophetic tradition, yet he is among the most ignorant and foul-mouthed of people. Any Muslim who has studied the Qur’ān and Sunnah (the Prophetic Tradition) upon the understanding of the righteous predecessors knows that he is a charlatan, a pretender, and an agitator seeking to cause hatred and commotion. He is a barrier to the true message of Islam, which begins with the call to pure monotheism (Tawḥīd): the sole worship of the Lord and Creator of the universe—and He is Allāh, the one true God worshipped by Ādam, Nūḥ, Ibrāhīm, Mūsā, ʿĪsā and Muḥammad (the praise of Allāh and His peace be upon them all)—and to abandon all forms of polytheism and superstitious practices, and to follow the teachings of the Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) faithfully, including his noble manners. This ignoramus brings to mind the saying of the Prophet (ﷺ): “There will come upon the people years of treachery, wherein the liar will be believed, and the truthful will be called a liar; the treacherous will be regarded as trustworthy, and the trustworthy will be regarded as treacherous—and the Ruwaibidah will speak.” It was said: “Who are the Ruwaibidah?” He replied: “An insignificant and lowly person who speaks concerning the affairs of the general people.” (Ibn Mājah, no. 4036, graded ṣaḥīḥ by al-Albānī.) In another narration, the Prophet (ﷺ) replied: “The fool who speaks concerning the affairs of the general people.” (Musnad Aḥmad, no. 7912.) Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (died 728 AH) said concerning the Khawārij: “They are more harmful to the Muslims than highway robbers because highway robbers only want wealth; if it were given to them, they would not fight. Furthermore, they attack only some of the people [not all of them]. As for these [Khawārij], they fought the people on account of religion, seeking to make them abandon that which was established by the Qur’ān, the Sunnah and the consensus of the Companions, in favour of what they had innovated through their false interpretation and corrupt understanding of the Qur’ān. They are more harmful to the Muslims than others; for there was none who was more harmful to the Muslims than them—not the Jews nor the Christians. They exerted themselves in killing every Muslim who did not agree with them, deeming the blood and wealth of the Muslims lawful, killing their children, and declaring them to be unbelievers. They regarded these actions as part of their religion, due to the enormity of their ignorance and their misguided innovation.” (Minhāj al-Sunnah, 5/243–248) So, Muslims and non-Muslims should never be deceived by the likes of these convenient fools, who are sent forth to ignite fitnah and discord within societies and communities. Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul-Wāhid.

May Allah bless the community @masjidulbayaan and Sh Jazāiri and Sh Ahmad for yesterday's program. I advise that their lectures on the explanation of Surah al-Ikhlas and Surah al-Kāfirūm should be benefited from. Two short lectures on 2 short chapters of the Quran that we recite continuously. Busying ourselves with these small benefits can bring great benefit to our relationship with Allah, and save us from wasting time on wasteful matters.
Alhamdu lillah, today's tafsir seminar at Masjidul-Bayan will continue as scheduled. We advise all attendees to travel safely. If you are not able to make it, all lectures will be broadcast online, in shaa Allah.

OTTAWA DAʿWAH ANNOUNCEMENT Al-ḥamdulillāh, on Saturday a French-speaking resident of Ottawa, originally from Québec, accepted Islām after being invited to the Religion of Allāh. We ask Allāh To Keep him firm upon Islām, Increase him in knowledge and Īmān, And Make him a means of guidance for others. We continue our efforts in calling the people to Islām and sharing the message of Tawḥīd, hoping sincerely to be included among those mentioned in The Verse: “And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allāh, does righteous deeds, and says: Indeed, I am of the Muslims.” — Sūrah Fuṣṣilat 41:33 May Allāh Grant us sincerity, wisdom, patience and firmness, And Guide through us whomsoever He Wills. وَاللَّهُ يَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ “And Allāh Guides whom He Wills to a straight path.” — Sūratul Baqarah 2:213

Alhamdu lillāh, Allāhumma Bārik, today’s bake sale was a big success. May Allāh (Ta’Alā) Reward our sisters community for organizing the event. The funds raised were much needed to support the Da’wah. In Shā’ Allāh, we will be making a related announcement shortly. The cooperation of our community members in support of this effort reminds us of The Saying of Allāh (‘Azza WaJall) in The Noble Qur’ān: وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ ‘…Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression.’ May Allāh (SubhānaH) Keep our community firm upon right guidance.
