I’m trying to figure out if we/I are going to bring back the Members Only jackets. They took over the world in the 80’s.
Well, I can attest, students jumping in the Duck Pond after a big Appalachian State football game is still a thing. They aren’t scared.

South Davidson Boys Win County Crown; Six Wildcats Earn All-County Honors
DENTON — Five consecutive All-County finishers carried the South Davidson boys’ cross-country team to the 2026 Davidson County Championship at Denton Farm Park.
The Wildcats won the county title with 25 points, finishing 14 points ahead of runner-up Oak Grove, which recorded 39. West Davidson placed third with 104 points, followed by East Davidson with 108.
After Oak Grove claimed the first two individual positions, South Davidson took control of the race by capturing places three through seven.
Freshman Rus Howell led the Wildcats in third place. Sophomore Brayden Aldridge followed in fourth, junior Noah Lyons finished fifth, sophomore Caper Matney placed sixth and junior Braxton Loflin completed the championship-winning group in seventh.
All five South Davidson scorers earned All-County honors.
The Wildcats’ five-man finishing time totaled 1:27:28, compared with Oak Grove’s 1:28:54. South Davidson’s tightly packed group allowed the Wildcats to overcome Oak Grove’s first- and second-place finishes and secure the championship.
Only four finishing positions separated South Davidson’s first and fifth scorers, and all five Wildcats crossed the finish line before any opposing team completed its scoring group.
South Davidson also celebrated an All-County performance in the girls’ championship. Freshman Leigha Hickey led the Wildcat girls and earned a place on the Davidson County All-County team.
Altogether, South Davidson placed six runners on the All-County teams: Howell, Aldridge, Lyons, Matney, Loflin and Hickey.
The championship adds another major accomplishment to an already successful season for the Wildcats. With a young scoring group consisting of one freshman, two sophomores and two juniors, South Davidson will now carry its county-championship momentum into the Greater Triad Conference Championship and the postseason.
