The Legend of Orio Palmer
On September 11, NYFD Battalion Chief Orio Palmer did the impossible.
An electronics genius, he hotwired a malfunctioning elevator and reached the 40th floor of the World Trade Center.
A marathon runner in excellent shape, he then charged up a stairwell wearing 70 pounds of bunker gear.
He tersely broadcast his run on the radio informing rescuers that a route up did indeed exist.
He reached the 78th floor where survivors had gathered.
Minutes later, the tower collapsed. But Orio Palmer had done the impossible.
He alone reached the survivors.
They died- but they died knowing they had been reached and seen- that a lone New York City firefighter had answered their prayers and reached them high in that fiery hell.
Orio Palmer was 45 years old when he died, leaving a wife and three children.

They fled the UK claiming danger, racism, and royal toxicity. They built a California brand on that story. The brand failed. Now they're moving back. Lauren Bair traces exactly how the con collapsed, and what it says about the story we were all sold.

Today, on International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, we honor the lives forever changed and lost to acts of terrorism around the world.
At the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, we remember the 2,977 people killed on September 11, 2001, and the six people killed in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Behind each number is a life, a family, a community, and a story that deserves to be remembered.
We stand with victims, survivors, families, and communities impacted by terrorism. Through remembrance and education, we carry their stories forward and reaffirm the importance of building a future rooted in understanding, compassion, and peace.

This #WarriorWednesday, we honor U.S. Army Corporal (Ret.) Alan โDocโ Babin, Jr.
While serving as a medic with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq, Alan rushed through heavy enemy fire to aid a wounded fellow soldier on March 31, 2003. In the process, he was struck by an AK-47 round and critically wounded. His actions that day earned him the Bronze Star with โVโ for Valor and the Purple Heart.
After dozens of surgeries and years of recovery, Alan continues to live by the words he shares with others: โNever, never, never give up.โ
The Gary Sinise Foundation was honored to support Alan with a specially adapted smart home that will provide greater independence and accessibility for him and his family.
Join us in honoring Alanโs extraordinary courage, service, and sacrifice by signing his virtual Wall of Gratitude: gsf.us/ababingratitude ๐บ๐ธ๐

I donโt know who needs to hear this, because the media are completely silent about this, but innocent Christians in Nigeria are still being murdered by Islamists every single day, and the world remains silent.
Speak up. Be their voice. They need you.

What does it mean to carry on the legacy of a hero?
On the next episode of the Gary Sinise Foundation Podcast, Cristin sits down with Richard Moorman, son of Los Angeles Fire Department Captain David Moorman, to reflect on his father's life, the lessons he left behind, and the enduring impact of his service.
In this heartfelt conversation, Richard shares what it was like getting to know his father not just as a parent, but as a man - and why hearing, "You make your dad proud," still means everything to him.
Tune in next week for a moving conversation about family, remembrance, and the legacy that lives on through those we love. In the meantime, catch up on recent episodes at bit.ly/podcastgsf or wherever you stream your favorite podcasts. ๐๏ธ๐

This is disgusting. No comment/followup from Harry about a FEPOW in an unmarked grave for 40 years. Yes, whatever authorities there are should have seen to this well before now but H was contacted and didn't even get back to them.
So much for commitment...... just as long as our expenses are paid and MM can get a new frock or two, eh?
I question Harryโs commitment to IG & the vets. The last few weeks have been entirely about him & his damn security. Does anyone remember how he ignored this person? No acknowledgement whatsoever. I donโt about anyone else but I found this disrespectful &telling.@VintageReadShow

This Independence Day, we're reflecting on the legacy of service that has defined our nation for 250 years.
Last month, we brought a group of young adults from our Families of Fallen Heroes program to Boston to walk through the birthplace of American independence. As children of our fallen heroes, they know that freedom has always come at a cost.
Today, as we celebrate our nation's birthday, we honor every generation of Americans who has answered the call to serve and sacrifice in defense of our freedom. ๐บ๐ธ

Today I am in Washington DC for the celebration tonight at the US Capitol televised on PBS and tomorrow on CBS for America 250. I have the privilege of narrating content for both events.ย
At the moment, I am sitting in my hotel room looking out the window watching our amazing fighter pilots rehearsing their flyover for tomorrowโs 4th of July celebration. I have been on military bases all over the world and seen these jets many times before but experiencing them practicing in the skies over our nation's capital in preparation for our 250thย birthday is something quite unique, and special.ย
We live in a great country. Itโs been wonderful to see how folks from around the world who have traveled here for the World Cup are enjoying so many of the things that we are so used to here. We have so much to be thankful for, not the least of which are the men and women who defend our country and protect our cities. Those whose service and sacrifice must not be taken for granted. Where would we all be if no one wanted to serve?ย
Over the course of our 250-year history, many sacrifices have been made. Thousands and thousands of our fellow Americans are buried in 26 military cemeteries in foreign lands with many more here at home. Each day at the Gary Sinise Foundation we work diligently to serve and honor these sacrifices by supporting those on active duty, those who have served, and the families that serve with them and have sacrificed alongside them.ย
I have met many over the years and they inspire me each day with their triumphant spirits. America is an evolving idea created by those who chose to fight for independence and freedom against a tyranny. We have inherited that idea, and while there certainly have been many extremely challenging moments in our history, there have been many triumphant ones to celebrate.
In this new video of a song called Triumphant, written by my son Mac Sinise and his pal Oliver Schnee, we include a few triumphant shining moments in celebration of Americaโs 250thย Birthday.

Fifteen years ago today, the @GarySiniseFound officially opened for business. One donor, a few staff members, a small two room office on the set of CSI NY, a website with a new logo and a few initial programs, and a lot of running around the country to build support.ย The goal and mission was simple: to serve the men and women who serve our country and the families who stand beside them.
It was my hope that our fellow citizens would come together in support of this objective and I canโt thank all of you enough. Because of your generosity, we've been able to build specially adapted smart homes, support our wounded heroes, strengthen first responder communities, serve families of the fallen, and remind so many Americans that they are never alone.
Every life we've touched has been made possible because of people like you. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has believed in this mission, volunteered their time, shared our story, or made a gift to help us serve others.
As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, I'm filled with gratitude for all we've accomplished together and hopeful for all that's still ahead. The need remains, and so does our commitment to those who sacrifice so much for our country.
Today, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the McBunch and Jansky families, every gift will be matched up to $650K, doubling your impact.
Thank you for standing with me over the last 15 years. I hope you'll join me as we continue this mission of service for many years to come.

Today, the Gary Sinise Foundation turns 15. ๐
Fifteen years ago, Gary Sinise founded this organization with a simple mission: to serve and honor our nation's defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Since then, thanks to the generosity of the American people, we've built specially adapted smart homes, supported wounded heroes, served families of the fallen, strengthened first responder departments, provided life-changing equipment and resources, and created countless moments of healing, hope, and gratitude.
While we're proud of what we've accomplished together over the last 15 years, we're even more inspired by what lies ahead.
As we celebrate this milestone, we invite you to join us in continuing this mission of service. Thanks to the generosity of the McBunch and Jansky families, every dollar donated today will be matched up to $650K.
