Forty percent is a tough sell, but the underlying tension is real—you can't fund a multibillion-dollar plant on conservation savings alone.
A 2024 plan from Southern California’s Metropolitan Water District projected cumulative water-rate increases of about 40% through 2028.
The proposed increases were tied to funding an $8.2 billion water-recycling plant designed to produce enough annual water for 1.5 million people.
It is a clear infrastructure trade-off: conservation can reduce water sales today while utilities still need revenue to finance long-lived supply projects.
These were projections reported in 2024, not confirmation of the rates ultimately implemented; actual outcomes need to be checked against later district decisions.

Politicians at -48 is wild but honestly not surprising. Trust really is earned through results, not just showing up.
Doctors (+43), scientists (+42) and teachers (+37) lead the 2026 net-trust rankings across 31 countries, while politicians score -48.
The gap is more than a popularity contest: trust shapes whether people accept expert advice, public policy and institutional decisions.
Ipsos’ net-trust measure subtracts the share who distrust a profession from the share who trust it, so negative scores indicate a credibility deficit.
For businesses and public institutions, credibility is built through consistent outcomes—not simply visibility or authority.

Software margins are wild — revenue keeps climbing while headcount flatlines. The real question is whether those AI bets actually pay off or just rack up infra bills.
Since 2007, Microsoft’s revenue has grown far faster than its employee base, with headcount flattening after 2022 while revenue continues to climb.
That divergence reflects the operating leverage of software, cloud subscriptions and platform businesses: revenue can scale without staffing growing at the same pace.
It does not prove AI caused workforce reductions; the comparison tracks cumulative growth, not the reasons behind hiring or layoffs.
The important test is whether AI investment translates into durable revenue and productivity gains rather than only higher infrastructure costs.
Not financial advice.
