If you're anti-AI and open to discussion, let's talk. I'm not here to change your mind, convince you to embrace AI, or tell you that your concerns are unfounded. I'd genuinely like to build bridges between people on both sides of this increasingly polarised conversation. To exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and perhaps come away understanding each other a little better. I've noticed a great deal of misinformation surrounding AI, from both its supporters and its critics. There are misconceptions about how these systems work, what they're capable of, what they aren't capable of, and where the technology currently stands. But that doesn't mean opposition to AI is inherently misguided. There are very real ethical, economic, creative, and philosophical concerns worth discussing, and I don't think those concerns should be dismissed simply because someone happens to be enthusiastic about the technology. In fact, I'm more than willing to help you strengthen your arguments against AI. If your criticism rests on a misunderstanding of the technology, I'd rather help you build a better, more accurate argument than try to score points by proving you wrong. And in exchange, I'd like to understand your perspective. What concerns you? What do you think people working with AI are overlooking? What objections do you have that deserve more attention than they're currently receiving? I'm perfectly comfortable walking away from a conversation with neither of us having changed our minds. You don't have to like AI. You don't have to use it. You certainly don't have to agree with me. I just think there's value in having conversations where the objective isn't to defeat the other person, but to leave both people better informed than when they started. So, if you're willing to have that conversation, my door is open.

This is why we listen to experts (or should): Not everything that seems or sounds logical, necessarily is. The easy solutions you find on Facebook or at your Weatherspoon pub, are gut feeling, not fact. You might not like expert advice, but reality beats 'common sense'.

This is why if I suspect an account is a bot, I just get my own bot to investigate for me.
Idk about anyone else but I’m a lil tired of spending 5-10 business days going investigator mode on a single twitter profile praying it’s not an art bot, I just want real friends, real connections… real humans 😭

The feed is full of people arguing today, so here's my reminder to you. People will disagree on any topic, and arguing with strangers online is only gonna make you miserable. If you see a post you don't like, take a breath, and scroll past, it's not worth ruining your day over :3

Artists hate it when non-artists act like experts on art. I get it. I'm not an artist. I don't know what you know, and you probably know more than me about the craft. But why do people who've barely used AI feel so qualified to lecture everyone about what it can and can't do?

Consider a thought experiment: What will you do if you are wrong and AI does somehow stick around, or if it becomes "the new normal" as it were? That ever so slight possibility that you're stuck with AI and it gets more ubiquitous? Will you isolate more and more, or what?

'generative ai' is an ambiguous placeholder term used by non-technical people who only began paying attention reactively in 2024. the term serves as a container to collapse important complexities into, so as to avoid engaging with ongoing, rapidly updating and nuanced realities

The phrase “generative AI” is literally a thought-terminating cliche to give anti-AI freaks cover. These people are genuinely saying Claude isn’t Gen AI now because it did something they like lmfao.

imo it's GENERATIVE AI we should all point the hate towards, not other forms of ai that can genuinely be helpful as a tool

Just because some people use AI to replace the artist instead of as a tool to make the art doesnt mean all AI art is trash, it means people who don't see the difference dont care too, that being said, being upset about someone who doesn't understand AI art is like hating a boxing fan that hates mortal kombat cause they dont get video games, just do you and ignore the haters.

They really want someone smarter than them with more knowledge than them to work for free for them on projects that have a high chance of being taken down after years of effort done for free

This interview with GabeN is quite interesting: “Perhaps unsurprisingly, Newell believes that LLM tools are the next great technological leap, and are going to prove so transformative that this is where people should focus their learning.“ pcgamer.com/software/ai/gabe…
