So this week the last @TheOpen structure was removed from @royalbirkdale Constructors found bird nest under scoreboard on 17th. Left it undisturbed til chicks fledged. @RandA being kind to nature! Just opposite where Scheffler lost ball in hospitality building for no penalty
It reminded me of the racing pigeon we rescued from the middle of the course during @theopen week and successfully repatriated to its owner
Two videos from very windy 7th tee and 15th tee @royalbirkdale today showing course free of @TheOpen buildings. Practice ground ours again. Constructors area at front now vacated. Still quite a lot of ground damage in surrounds but course awesome and getting greener by the day

A rainy comp @royalbirkdale today with no @theopen buildings left, just lots of mess left to clear and the rumble of JCBs ongoing. Practice ground still closed. With building gone from behind the new 15th green the view of the clubhouse is back and spectacular!
Today @southportflower show with Dr Maria Markides AKA Mrs Hughes for a session of health advice for visitors. Good opportunity to answer questions. 1 month since since start of @TheOpen @royalbirkdale. Patrons pavilion still there, links pavilion by 16th virtually gone. Only thing left in village is the Shop with no customers anymore. Still a long way from club getting its practice ground back.

My favourite was Espiche. Very hilly. Tight fairways, great greens. High quality sand. Driver stays in bag most holes. Friendly staff and good value. (Pictures 1st Tee & 18th Green) – at Lagos, Portugal
The @BoavistaGolf course also good. Holes like streets through houses. Very pretty. Quite a lot of damage recently from wild boar on fairways. Bunkers quite stony. Also place is quite controlled, buggy no go zones extensive and frustrating. Some lovely holes to enjoy. – at Lagos, Portugal

Thank you for posting these photos! I visited Birkdale for the Open, coming from the US. The course was incredible, the volunteers and course marshals welcoming, and Southport was a lovely town. Very nice corner of the world you folks have over in Merseyside!
18th hole @royalbirkdale with @TheOpen stands gone reveals this special clubhouse ‘sailing’ through the Birkdale dunes. Wonder how many members will get free relief in today’s competition from the boxes left behind. Patrons Pavilion near tee still there and flying its flags! – at Southport, England
The @TheOpen players clubhouse is last building standing near the @royalbirkdale clubhouse. The open driving range tee is abandoned and yellow and players are now on normal range tee way further forward. The 10th tee and halfway house are back to normal and looking great
1st tee stand @royalbirkdale now gone and after hottest @theopen ever they’ve finally got round to giving the @RandA pavilion some extra air conditioning. Still at least the flags are flying proudly for a bit longer!

Not @royalbirkdale today but @oldlinksgolf raising money for Southport Children’s Charity BebeshiveUK. @RenacresHosp sponsored the event and did blood pressure measuring on 1st tee. Great 9 hole course with greens in lovely condition. Thanks to the caddies! – at Southport, England
Team @ramsayhealthUK Renacres didn’t win but in the auction after I won a signed @TommyFleetwood1 glove and ball. I’m sure as a local lad he will be happy to see money going to a deserving Southport charity – at Southport, England

The @royalbirkdale Championship Tee Competition was grim today with 21mph wind gusting to 35. Shame the professionals didn’t get a day like this. Still the flags were flying straight. And we got to use the same cards they used for the @TheOpen
