Our prayers remain with all affected by the tragedy at @CanadianForces Base Wainwright. To support the recovery of soldiers affected by traumatic burns, the U.S. government has made a formal offer of assistance and resources to the Government of Canada, should it be deemed necessary.

My heart is heavy for the Canadian Armed Forces community. Diane and I are praying for the families of the members lost in the fire at CFB Wainwright, and for the full recovery of those injured.
A serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright, in Alberta.
Our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected.
We are working closely with the Government of Alberta and local authorities. Premier Smith and I are in close contact as are our relevant ministers and officials.
🔫Tracing illegal guns starts with restoring what criminals try to erase. @ATFHQ officials are training NS law enforcement on serial number restoration.
🏛️We were pleased @NS_Justice Minister Scott Armstrong stopped by to meet with our Consul General and ATF Attaché Chris Taylor.

Diane and I are so happy to be in Gander today to say thank you on behalf of the United States for all that Newfoundlanders, and all Canadians, did in the days after 9/11.
I’m also proud of my team back at the Embassy for sharing their experiences of 9/11 with us. I hope you’ll take the time to watch some of their stories in the thread below.

What Gander and its surrounding communities did for stranded travelers in the aftermath of 9/11 is truly extraordinary. Thanks to the Ganderites, pilots, plane people, and others who shared their Untold Stories with us tonight. We’re so glad to be here with you.
A productive and insightful New Brunswick trip!
The Consul General recently traveled across New Brunswick. The visit included engaging discussions with Premier Holt and Lieutenant Governor Imbeault on shared cross-border priorities, collaboration with the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, seeing the Sisson mine site to explore regional industry growth, and the historic Roosevelt-Campobello International Park, jointly run by the United States and Canada, and a longstanding symbol of our unique ties.
Thank you to the people of New Brunswick for the warm welcome!

Police responding to threats
Halifax Regional Police have a man in custody and an increased police presence in two areas of the city due to threats he made.
The Purdy’s Wharf parkade in downtown Halifax has been evacuated due to a suspicious vehicle that is being searched in response to the threats.
The man was arrested on Thomas Raddall Drive near the Canada Games Centre. Police will have an increased presence in this area as well.
Police ask the public to avoid both areas. More information will be released once it is available.

“Today we welcome the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge to traffic between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, adding new capacity to one of the busiest and most economically significant border crossings between the United States and Canada.
President Trump made the opening possible and has consistently prioritized a safer, more secure, and more prosperous North America.”

Celebrating our shared history in Stephenville!
The Consul General was honored to join Mayor Bob Byrnes and the Town Council to explore the fascinating history of the former Ernest Harmon Air Force Base, which was once the largest U.S. military base outside the continental United States.
Our history with Newfoundland and Labrador is deeply intertwined. To mark the U.S. 250th anniversary, we gifted a piece of our Founders Exhibit to the Stephenville Regional Museum. To cap off a great visit, the town raised a new American flag to celebrate our enduring friendship.
📍The Consulate General team is in Western Newfoundland this week.
👷♂️We visited the MSC Baltic III site with the @CoastGuardCAN to better understand their work with U.S. firm Resolve Marine.
🇺🇸🇨🇦 Happy to see Canada-U.S. cooperation advancing the safe removal of this former container ship.

A historic salute for a historic milestone as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The U.S. Consul General and colleagues were honored to mark American Independence Day with the traditional firing of the Citadel Hill Noon Gun in Halifax. We look forward to the next 250 (and more) years of our partnership! 🇺🇸🇨🇦
