SC Acting Secretary General Jassim Al Jassim has taken part in a US-Qatar Business Council (@usqbcdoha) Doha roundtable titled “Private Capital, Public Impact: How Enterprise Drives Resilient Market Transformation”. The event was held on the sidelines of the 9th World Investment Forum 2026 being organised by the UN Trade and Development (@UNCTAD) in Doha, Qatar from 25-27 October 2026.
During the session, Al Jassim discussed how Qatar’s legacy of mega-sporting events has provided opportunities for local and global private enterprises to be part of the delivery and events ecosystem that continues to generate social and economic impact and drive sustainable diversification.
Al Jassim further highlighted how Qatar’s development of international sporting assets such as the FIFA Arab Cup™ has created long-term economic value. The 2025 edition of the regional tournament generated QAR 2.89 billion of economic value for the local economy, contributing to a surge in revenue across travel, hospitality, and retail sectors. As Qatar continues to host mega-events in the future, the SC’s mandate has been expanded to develop an integrated programme of events inside and outside Qatar, ensuring they support national development goals, and lead to sustainable growth across the sports and events sectors.
