Circle and Tether did a Great job this time.
The crypto industry, including exchanges and stablecoin issuers, should work together to build an industry-wide security response mechanism.
We need a real-time alert system that allows participants to share information immediately when a hack occurs, coordinate a rapid response, and temporarily freeze suspected stolen funds before they can be moved or laundered.
Speed is critical. We should establish standardized protocols, clear responsibilities, and appropriate safeguards to ensure we can act within minutes, not hours or days.
Protecting users and their assets should be a shared responsibility across the entire industry, not just individual platforms.

Someone your age just bought a house.
Another person just got married.
Someone else made their first million dollars.
And you're still trying to figure out how to make your first $10,000.
It's difficult not to feel left behind when everyone around you seems to be moving forward.
But your life isn't over because someone else got there before you.

P2P is probably the main reason a lot of people use CEXs in Nigeria. But recently, we've seen offramp platforms like Spenda and Brent which are not typically CEXs.
Now that you have these alternatives, do you still use CEXs at all or was it only all about P2P?
Personally, I still find it important to have funds on CEX like Luno, mostly because it's really easy to swap to a wide range of tokens and withdraw to many different networks.
I've been using Luno since 2018 (nearly 10 years now), and one thing I've appreciated is the balance between security and ease of use. I've never personally lost funds to hacks, and features like 2FA give me an extra layer of account protection.
The most amazing thing is that there's no Trade-Off of user experience for the watertight security. Deposits, withdrawals and trading are all seamless across popular Evm networks and non-evm like Solana and Tron
So in deciding on what CEX to use, are you mostly influenced by what everyone else uses or do you pay more attention to your own personal experience with platform features like deposits, withdrawals and trading fees? 🤔

Yesterday, I wrote about how $86M got stolen from crypto believers even though they did everything right and used what we all believed to be the holy grail of user funds security -> A cold wallet ledger physical storage device.
So I've been thinking about how I can stay safe and protect my crypto when I make millions of dollars this cycle.
Three steps came to mind -
1Instead of storing my cold wallet in a physical ledger device, I'd buy a new phone, install a wallet app (make sure it's the right one), save my funds in it and keep the phone inactive by not connecting it to the internet. If it's an iPhone, I'd need a fresh apple ID so no one ever gains control of the phone
2Diversify my portfolio:- $200k - $500k or more per fresh phone device, save all seed phrases securely and keep them in a personal vault of a bank safety deposit box.
3Use a Multisig system where you would need to control different independent wallets of mine in order to gain access to my funds. In other words, you'd have to hack all my devices before you can access funds on any main wallet
Bonus tip since we're being paranoid - Write your seed phrases on a piece of paper, wrap in a nylon bag and go bury it somewhere in your village family house.

What comes to mind when you hear of the Ledger scam is how sophisticated scammers in crypto have become. Earlier in April, we saw the Drift protocol exploit where $285M was lost after a terrible but genius six months of social engineering, with the hackers going as far as attending crypto events and posing as a real company.
Now these guys have stolen $86M of users’ funds by acting as a legit supply chain distributor, gaining trust with Ledger as an authorized reseller (CryptoBilis in Southeast Asia). Devices sold through them appear to have been tampered with, including at least one with an unauthorized hardware implant, allowing the attackers to drain wallets across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, and other chains. Ledger’s own systems were not compromised, but users who bought from this channel in the past 90 days have been told not to set up new devices and to move funds to a fresh seed if they already did.
So how do we stay safe when it seems like nothing is safe in crypto anymore?
-> One of the most important steps is to diversify your portfolio. Never hold all your funds in one place.
Cold wallets were supposed to be the holy grail of blockchain security, but with how sophisticated scams are becoming, it makes sense to still diversify across different cold wallets and private inactive wallets (maybe even diversify to fiat and hold in strong currencies like USD and EUR).
Most importantly, we need to find stronger and more sustainable fixes for the insecurity problem in our industry. If we cannot find lasting solutions to the fundamental issue of security, then gaining useful adoption might never happen.
