Just reached a milestone - 100 peer-reviewed publications!
The vast majority of these papers have been written with my amazing graduate students, with each paper representing another chapter in their PhD thesis. One of the greatest privileges of being a professor is mentoring and supporting students as they grow as researchers, overcome challenges, and celebrate their own publication milestones.
I still remember my first papers. Mom was so proud that her son was published. Dad, who worked at a rural gas station after retirement, would take my preprints to show the farmers who stopped by to chat. Those memories still mean so much to me.
This latest paper feels like a special capstone: a collaborative effort bringing together multiple generations of my graduate students, including my very first PhD student, now Professor Jo!
I am stoked to be a professor, to work alongside such amazing students and colleagues, and to be part of the #Longhorn community. Here's to the next generation of discoveries, collaborations, and student milestones! 🤘
More than 10% of petroleum engineers go on to become business leaders and industry executives. That’s why the new Cockrell-McCombs B.S./M.S. Honors Program is an exciting step towards interdisciplinary excellence. @CockrellSchool @UTexasMcCombs cockrell.utexas.edu/admissio…
