if you're not on LinkedIn, you miss a lot of the comedic moments this industry has to offer you
clowns for free
my @Tangem pro kit is almost here
i have a lot of criticisms about Tangem, but tomorrow I'll have a real opportunity to test it out in person. I'll do my research and share my HONEST opinions about the pros and cons of the wallet.
i don't recommend it, and i probably still won't, but i appreciate that @brandalf was kind enough to send me one before our debate. will keep an open mind and listen to counterarguments, of course 🫡
So @SafePal marketing reached out to me, and I gotta be honest:
1. You suffered a data breach on August 16, 2026, where you exposed the personal details and addresses of nearly 40,000 customers
now you're asking me to push your product (+ risk) to my audience? And for what?
a 10% commission? 💀
this is like a sales job with zero base salary, except I also get to damage my reputation by associating with a recent data leak
trust is hard to earn not just in this industry, but in every facet of human interaction. And I'm not about to give that up, not for 10%, not for anything.
would rather shill stuff I actually think is good for the space, and if I had to do it for free, I would 🫡
Why can’t these hard wallets delete customer addresses after shipping them out?
They don’t need the addresses for customer data tracking. If you care about customer safety and privacy, you don’t need to keep the address
not like i get real mail from these companies anyway
Six hardware-wallet brands have now faced customer-data breaches this year
Here’s the timeline and what happened:
• Jan 5 - Ledger: Global-e breach exposed customer names, contact details, shipping addresses and order information.
• Jul 30 - Coldcard: Seed-generation flaw disclosed. Weak randomness enabled private-key reconstruction and thefts later estimated at ~$116M.
• Aug 13 - Trezor: ShipMonk breach exposed customer details. A Sept 4 update expanded the affected total to 80,689 customers.
• Aug 16 - SafePal: Order-tracking flaw exposed names, addresses, contact details and purchase information for ~39,798 customers.
• Sept 10 - Trezor: Separate Brevo breach disclosed. A Sept 17 update confirmed 347,149 marketing email contacts were exported.
• Sept 24 - BitBox: Disclosed a Sept 10 Brevo breach. Attackers downloaded subscriber emails and sent phishing campaigns.
• Oct 10 - Ledger: Confirmed a hardware implant in an affected reseller device. Tampered units captured recovery phrases during setup, enabling wallet drains.
• Oct 24 - Keystone: Website breach reported, exposing customer addresses and order details. The company says private keys and recovery phrases were not exposed..
