what i’m hearing is that yash absolutely got the mix of being a star and actor
#RamayanaPart1 is a visual spectacle unlike anything Indian cinema has seen, with exhilarating action sequences, but it’s held back by weak writing and tedious pacing.
Yash’s performance as Ravana stands out among the cast. He truly takes control of every scene he’s in and commands your attention whenever he’s on screen. The visual effects are beautiful, while the action choreography is exhilarating and engaging. I also loved the production design of Ayodhya, Mithila, and Lanka. All three look breathtaking and rich in detail.
Ranbir Kapoor as Ram didn’t really work for me, and I can’t quite put my finger on whether it’s the writing or his inability to fully embody the role of Lord Ram. Never thought I’d say this, but aside from a few instances, Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman’s score is lowkey noise pollution. Very disappointing. The pacing is atrocious, with unnecessary slow-motion sequences stretching the film to its enormous 3-hour-and-15-minute runtime.
I have my gripes with the writing, but I can’t say much until I’ve read the exact version of the Ramayana that the film is adapted from. One thing I will say is that I wish we had seen more scenes of Ram and Sita conversing. I felt they had virtually no chemistry, both as characters and as actors.
Overall, it’s a good one-time watch that should definitely be experienced on the biggest screen near you. 7/10 🙏🏼

leave alone stars, there is a dearth of child actors in India. Any time there is a child role, they are written to be too child like and comical almost. They don't treat them like a real human with emotions. They just make them cartoonish with high pitched voices.
