Svoboda nám dává právo rozhodovat o vlastním životě. Demokracie nám dává právo podílet se na rozhodování o společných věcech. Ani jedno nám ale nezaručuje, že se vývoj bude sám ubírat k lepšímu. My všichni máme vlastní důležitou roli ve formování budoucnosti této země.
V letech, která prožíváme v relativním bezpečí a dostatku, se uchylujeme k pohodlnosti, která uhýbá před nepříjemnými zprávami a náročnými úkoly. Přehlížíme nebo nechceme vidět zřetelné signály krizí, které mohou nastat. Nemůžeme stavět svoji budoucnost pouze na planých nadějích. Musíme být realisté a poctivě vnímat dění kolem nás. Vnímat a reagovat.

In 2 or 3 dimensions geometry feels familiar. Volumes fill the interior. Distances between points vary widely.
Raise the dimension and the picture changes completely.
The volume of the unit ball concentrates in a thin shell near the surface. The ratio of the volume of the unit ball to the volume of the unit cube falls rapidly toward zero.
Almost all the mass sits near the boundary. Interior points become negligible.
This is the first signal that high-dimensional geometry follows different rules.
