It's been fun, but everyone has their limits and today Twitter reached mine. I'm on no other "social" sites, but check out my personal site or GitHub if you want to reach me.
PSA: don't use Crypt::Random::Seed without setting NonBlocking to 1 on an Apache2/mod_perl server. Most requests will hang waiting 15+ minutes for /dev/random, which doesn't seem to be released properly in that context.
Hey @elonmusk there's no way TweetDeck is worth CAD$105/year for me. Why don't you have affordable tiers for occasional users? You're forcing me to leave Twitter entirely which I suspect may not be your desired result.
Uh… of course. I've been scratching my head on that one for over 10 minutes. 🤪

Don't you just love it when you call DEBUG "something" and everything works fine at home but the line does not log anything once in production?
…unlike all the other uses of DEBUG in other files which log just fine in production?
What a fun day it is. 😛

These posts on using clever tricks to automatically generate really fast interpreters and baseline JITs from simple C++ functions is really neat. It's like Truffle/Graal but way simpler: sillycross.github.io/2022/11…
Ah yes, apparently April is the start of "tornado season". The worst of it is exactly my way home of course. 🤔

Hey @TangerineBank what will it take for your tech department to finally listen and shorten those irritatingly long SMS 2FA messages? It's been what, 2 years? I don't want your obviously useless text padding to bury the code 2 lines deep, I want the code to log in.
You're never too old for Perl's dynamic nature to completely stump you.
It's as if the -> operator had a low precedence with INFO, but is fine in all other contexts I've ever encountered.
I have no idea. 🤔

Hey @AskPayPal is this really how you want to treat your users? I've wasted enough time on this already, I'm not going to get lost in a phone system menu just to try to get you to please stop e-mailing me.

Programmers know how challenging it is to name things; but the Jane Street interns in Hong Kong make it look easy! These were the top 4 teams from a programming competition that took place last week
Hey @CloudflareHelp who thought it was a good idea to cramp things horizontally to the point of not being legible?
Your previous UI was desktop-friendly. This is… bordering on unusable.

We made OCaml a "build once run anywhere" language by porting it to Cosmopolitan Libc in a new project called Esperanto. Your Esperanto programs will also run in the browser using our Blink virtual machine. nitter.gq/ingenieroariel/status/…

Fun, glamorous project today: getting intimate with the composting toilet for a good old fashioned troubleshooting session. Is the compost too dry or too wet? I've been in deserts so probably the former. We'll know tomorrow.
