AI can now generate designs in seconds. So what happens to young designers trying to build a career? We sit with @iamdanielampofo (@dex_ghana & @thirdlaw_co ) to discuss the realities of being a designer in Ghana, AI's threat to junior creatives and building the future of African design. Full conversation out now on The Peswa Podcast. Link Below

Since I woke up this morning, I've taken my time to go through the comments, quotes, and advice people have shared. Trust me, I'm going to take every single piece of advice seriously. However, there's one advice I will not take, and that's people telling me to stay away from politics and focus solely on my business. I think I responded to someone's comment suggesting that we should vote for Peter Obi, and I noticed that quite a number of people dragged me for it. But honestly, why should I be told not to talk about politics and just concentrate on my business? Who do you think put me in the situation I'm currently in? Is it not the government? I shouldn't talk about politics, but politics is talking about me. Do you understand how badly government policies have affected my business and my livelihood? I'm genuinely grateful to everyone who came through for me, but the truth is, I'm still going to bear losses. And who created the economic conditions that contributed to those losses? The government. Let me also address those who believe I made a financial mistake by opening the shop in the first place. Yes, perhaps there were things I could have done differently, but let me give you some context. My shop is strategically located between two major universities in Port Harcourt: the University of Science and Technology (UST) and Ignatius Ajuru University. These institutions have thousands of students. Do you honestly think these students don't want cookies? Why do you think I chose that location in the first place? The idea was simple: students from both universities would make up a significant part of my customer base. Interestingly, since this whole support campaign started, a good number of the people who have shown up to support me are students from these same universities. They have always been my target audience. But the problem is that the economy has destroyed their purchasing power. These students, who ordinarily would patronise my business, are now more concerned about paying school fees, feeding themselves, and meeting their basic needs. And somehow, I'm being told not to talk about politics? You're telling me to focus on my business, post my products, and leave politics alone. But why can't I do both? Why can't I promote my business and also speak about the political leadership and candidate I believe can bring about the change we desperately need? Why shouldn't I advocate for someone I believe can help change the circumstances that have made running a small business this difficult? I was fortunate that my situation gained attention and people rallied around me. But what happens the next time? Will I have to depend on a viral post before I can make meaningful sales? Is that how a business should survive? Absolutely not. I appreciate every single person who has supported me, advised me, encouraged me, and shown me love. I will take the business advice, learn from my mistakes, and make better decisions going forward. But please, don't tell me to stop talking about politics. The economy is affecting my business. Government policies are affecting my customers. The political decisions being made in this country have direct consequences on my livelihood. I cannot separate my business struggles from the politics and economic realities that contribute to them. I have every right to speak about both. PLEASE VOTE PETER OBI!!! ✌️
Please, I've got cookies in my shop that's close to expiration so I've put them for sale at 50% discount I've already lost two cartons to the same issue, there's been no sales If you're in port Harcourt I'd really appreciate if you patronise me They cost 3600 but now 1800 🙏

This guy just described everything I go through on a daily. So does it mean????? No definitely not. But maybe? Idk. Life just goes on I guess.
this guy literally explained how social media infantalizes ADHD and completely ignores the real struggle.

#MALLAM_MARKET Traders have moved from the market onto the highway. The pavement and medians have all been taken over and we the citizens are also part of the problem because we buy from them. We cannot allow this to continue and the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly and MCE Kalamu Musah Adamu has to act on this now! @HonLindaAkweley @AccraMetropolis @ayariga_mahama @NRSAGhana @ndpcgh @mrhgovgh @urbanroadsgh @highwaysghana #civicsensegh #thinkrightactright #ghanaletsdobetter

The only way to permanently get rid of roadside traders and restore order is to create alternative meaningful employment. I don't enjoy having to fight for space on the sidewalks with these lot, but the so-called "removal exercises" are just a case of whack-a-mole.
A new video shows traders returning to the Spanner Overhead to resume trading despite an earlier removal exercise by the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly. [🎥: Ben Archer TV]

Law and Order only come to wealthy societies where people don't have to debase themselves just to make a living. You can't have a poor country and expect people not to find a means to survive.

Moreover, why are we targeting the poor and vulnerable, rather than the leaders who don't invest in industrialisation, job creation, and education? I don't think it's anyone's first choice to trade at the mercy of the elements for tiny margins just to eat.

Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because you see gentlmen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Carpe Diem. Seize the day.

@staseintel we're building intelligence for Africa's critical sectors. NsuGuard provides aquatic intelligence to help us protect our most critical resource: water. You can now render any river and use our CFD model to simulate remediation. Watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=c4TIbrKd…

What a way to start my Saturday!!! @staseintel has just been highlighted by one of Africa's biggest tech channels. This is a testament to the quality of work being done at our startup. Thank you, Kweku Tech.
What if the tools needed to solve Ghana's environmental problems were also within reach of the scientists studying them? Think about galamsey and the pollution of our rivers. Understanding how heavy metals move through waterways requires computational modelling. Investigating bacteria that can survive in contaminated environments requires computational biology. But specialised scientific software can be expensive, putting these tools out of reach for many young African researchers. That's the problem Stase Intelligence is working to address. The Ghanaian technology research company is building Stase WorkBench, a platform bringing together computational systems for scientists and engineers. Two of its projects caught our attention: NsuGuard: Uses hydrodynamic modelling to reconstruct river environments, study contaminant movement, and support the planning of targeted remediation. ALUKA: Uses machine learning to identify bacterial genomes associated with heavy-metal resistance. And that's not all. Stase is also working on computational systems for embedded technologies and robotics. The company launched a year ago and is building entirely bootstrapped. African scientists are working on problems that affect millions of people. They need tools that help them investigate, experiment, and build solutions. Meet Stase Intelligence.

We’ve also done some work in bioinformatics, essentially exploring how we can use k-mer associations to train ML models to identify specific protein capabilities. Here's the video: youtu.be/iqjFg66Z15g

I've been building this startup on my own, and funding has been hard to come by. If you know anyone who might be interested in supporting this vision, kindly tag them or share this message to them. Reposting also helps a ton. staseintel.com
