Here is another Disney gig I can post in the same number of weeks. This one is for the Java-leaning folks out there. It's not technically on my team, but we'd work together closely. This role is for the back-end services my team's apps consume. Feel free to share.

Three hours before kickoff today, the visiting fans set up tents at an elementary school outside Orlando and started unloading thousands of pounds of food. None of it was for them. All of it was for students at the school they came to play. The visitors were BYU. The food goes to the Knights Helping Knights Pantry at UCF, which started in 2009 as a class project and is now run by students for students. Last school year it gave out more than 185,000 pounds of food across nearly 60,000 visits. About 400 UCF students walk through it on an ordinary day. Roughly 35% of UCF students say they deal with some level of food insecurity. BYU fans have been doing this at road games since 2019. They call it Cougs Care, and the local alumni chapter picks the charity in whatever city the team is playing in. Last November in Lubbock they ran a book drive with Texas Tech fans for Literacy Lubbock. It was supposed to be one tailgate. It turned into a week. Here is what the Texas Tech side said about that. "Everyone wanted to help, so we decided to make this a weeklong event." They collected more than 6,000 books. Andy Reid went to Brigham Young University. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech. Both of them pushed it online. In Ames, Iowa they collected coats, shoes and blankets, and they did it in the name of a man from Des Moines named Charles Good, who in 1856 gave new boots to a group of children walking west. They were paying back a stranger 169 years later. At East Carolina they filled the Purple Pantry with more than 5,000 pounds. Tyler Stahle of BYU posted pictures from under the tent in Oviedo this afternoon while the food was still coming in. Last season the whole thing brought in 76,500 pounds, which was 15 times what it collected the year before, and the number of people taking part doubled to 26,500. The last time BYU played in Orlando, two years ago, fans left about 2,000 pounds for this same pantry. The tailgate was open to both sides, and UCF fans came and gave to their own pantry alongside them. Be honest about the size of it. One tailgate does not fix a campus where a third of the students are short on food, and the University of Central Florida is one of the largest schools in the country. The drive is also run by BYU's own alumni association, which means it is good for BYU too. And the pantry is not the only thing on that campus that needs filling. BYU lost today. UCF won 39 to 31 in double overtime. The food was already stacked on the tables by then. The cans were counted, the bags were loaded, and none of those people knew yet whether they had driven across the country to watch their team lose. They handed it over before they knew. When was the last time somebody did something for you with nothing in it for them. Thanks to @tstahle15 for sharing this story!

A couple of weeks ago I asked for advice on upgrading my iPhone 15 Pro to an 18 Pro or paying $100 to replace the battery. I replaced the battery at an Apple Store. Reports 100% health. Still drains to 50% by lunchtime, and I barely touch the thing. Super disappointing.

I love that @claudeai can quickly put together Play Store trailers for my apps. Sure, it may not look super professional and polished, but it's 1000% better than anything I could make on my own.

Highest rank I ever remember seeing was #5, roughly 30 years ago.

TFW @claudeai builds my app's trailer from actual gameplay. It even created the music.

Any of my followers Android users? I have a couple of apps I'd like to have tested, if you're willing.

I want a ✅ or 👍 for @claudeai so I can acknowledge when it asks me to do something like "push the branch." I can tell that I've done it without typing "done" or "ok." Yes, I really am that lazy sometimes. 😅

I just saw that @kfc will be replacing Pepsi with @CocaCola this spring. Along as they don't use Freestyle, I may just start going back there. When I lived in Texas, I would hit the KFC drive-through, grab a chicken sandwich, then go to McDs for a side salad and Diet Coke.

And here I was hoping we were going to get a coupe and/or convertible version of the Model 3. Silly me.

Bizarre lights in Central Florida this morning. Apparently the glow was caused by the SpaceX rocket launch. You can see the launch trail in the bottom right corner. Others got better pictures.

It’s cool, but odd that this is the first one I’ve seen in my 15 years here.

My wife is attending a BYU Organ Workshop in Orlando today. I'm not a musician, so I'm just trying to stay out the way. I gave a picture of one of the organs to Claude and asked it to recommend what settings to use to play a specific song. It gave me a long suggestion. 🧵1/2

When I had a chance, I showed the suggestions to the director of the workshop, a BYU Music Professor. He said they were good settings. Not exactly what he would select himself, but a solid configuration nonetheless. 2/2

I need to make a decision. $99 to replace the battery in my iPhone 15 Pro or $1199 to get an iPhone 18 Pro?

Newsmax is freaking out over @comma_ai, calling ridiculous "DIY" self-driving. It feels like the early panic over @Tesla FSD. Comma needs to get in front of this.

I almost went to this game tonight between the Saints and the Falcons. I think I'm glad I didn't.

Early this morning I had a brainstorm for an idea that would be a perfect AI use case. Didn’t write it down. I now have no idea what it was.

I gave Muse a disposable email address and phone number and asked it to shop around for homeowner's insurance. It found a decent candidate and is now chatting with an insurance agent over SMS. It's been really good about not sending any sensitive info without asking.
