Gallery forests along the Likouala-aux-Herbes River protect riverbanks from erosion and provide habitat for many water birds. But bushfires threaten these ecosystems. Nearly 3 hectares are now being restored with native tree species, combining scientific and local knowledge.
The vast swamp forests of LacTélé are home to the Allen’s swamp monkey (Allenopithecus nigroviridis).
Recorded in several camera-trap during the 2022–23 NdokiLikouala landscape survey, this little-known Central African primate is closely associated with swamp & flooded forests.
