Replying to @AMPAdocs
@AMPAdocs Dr O’Brien on PAIP: 1st ? to the group: how many in the room have been affected by a crash in your HEMS program? 90% of hands go up If same ? in Australia, almost no one in the room would raise their hand & would be hard pressed to remember the last crash country wide.

Reflections on a recent stint of helicopter EMS shifts. Learned from @drgeoffhealy to always self reflect on tough calls. A #thread 1/ @Aidan_Baron (“**demographics changed, details fabricated, case non-contemporaneous, & images from Google**”)

Farm accidents are brutal, farmers are more resilient than most Impress upon older kids not to dive in water where they can’t see the bottom Industrial accidents are tough on both patient & rescuer #safetythird #dirtyjobs If @ATACCFaculty ran a course in the US, I would go 4/

Neonatal emergency Home births still need Vit K. ER docs: Consider hemorrhagic shock in unwell appearing newborn. If it’s not congenital heart issue, not clearly sepsis consider bleeding 2/2 Vit K deficiency Hang #NRP poster on ED warmer as cognitive aid for a really bad day

Truly powerful talk at #cctmc22 by @DrPetDetective on alcohol abuse, ptsd, suicidality in pre-hospital providers and physicians. #ems #FOAMed #emra “We aren’t that different (and sometimes worse) than our patients”

#cctmc22 .@gueromedico on managing the RV in massive PE. Support with vasopressin. Won’t be wrong to use norepi. Avoid phenylephrine. Minimize fluids. Have an a-line for transport. Epi for inotropy if needed. Decrease pulm vasc resistance w/iNO or nitro.

The catch. #cctmc2020 .@UCAirCareDoc on ABG (air by ground) HEMS crews taking the patient by ground with local #EMS. What the bean counters care about. 👇 Benefit: the CCT team & equipment already a fixed cost. Improves relations with EMS and referring centers.
