My Sir Patrick Stewart Story: I am a Star Trek and an X-Men fan but to me - Sir Patrick Stewart will always be Ebenezer Scrooge first and foremost. My family had a Christmas tradition… my mother and I would watch “A Christmas Carol” every year on Christmas Eve. I don’t know if she did it in order to teach me to be a good person in this life or she just liked the story. Either way, I’ve learned many of life’s lessons from that tradition. My mother’s favorite Ebenezer was Patrick Stewart. I went to experience Stewart’s one man show of a “Christmas Carol” on Broadway. It was incredible. And to surprise my mother, I did what I have never done before or since, I stood outside the stage door waiting for him to exit so I could ask for his autograph for my mom. When he did exit he was so gracious and spent more than 5 minutes talking with me - after a grueling performance that required him to play more than 30 characters - without a break or even a costume change. He must have been exhausted and yet he took 5 minutes to talk to a guy just trying to get a special autograph for his mom for Christmas. Rest in peace, Sir Patrick ❤️
