A lot of work goes into preparing our state's budget before the session even begins. I appreciate the time and effort House members have put into our Pre-Session Budget Hearings. We'll be back at it on November 6 to review the Governor's proposed balanced budget.

This week, we say thank you to Arkansas truck drivers and everyone who works in the trucking industry.

Slow down. Move over. Save a life. Thanks to @myARDOT, @ARStatePolice, @ARTrucking, Arkansas Highway Patrol, Arkansas General Contractors Association, Arkansas EMS Association, and Arkansas Towing and Recovery Association for joining us in launching the “Just Move Over” campaign.

It was an honor to welcome MLK Commissions from across the country to Arkansas today. A legacy isn’t something we simply remember. It’s something we carry forward. Thank you to everyone who continues to carry Dr. King’s legacy forward through service in your communities.

I enjoyed spending time this week with 17 future members of the Arkansas House as they got a head start preparing for the 2027 Regular Session. I’m grateful to everyone who helped welcome them and shared their knowledge. I look forward to serving alongside them in January!

It was a pleasure meeting with this year's MyARInternship participants today. These students spent the summer serving the people of Arkansas while gaining hands-on experience in state government. Thank you for your interest in public service and for asking such great questions!

Happy Independence Day!

Forty-one years ago, I sat in the House Chamber as a Boys State participant. That experience helped spark my interest in public service. Today, I spoke to this year's class, and I have a feeling a few future legislators were sitting in those seats.

This special session was about letting people keep more of what they earn. Arkansas is doing well, and we believe taxpayers should feel that in their own household budgets.

Honored and grateful. I'm thankful to my colleagues for placing their trust in me once again to serve as Speaker of the House for the 96th General Assembly.

We’re making strong progress toward passing a balanced, responsible budget while also delivering meaningful tax relief for Arkansas families. The House wrapped up Week 2 with unanimous support for a resolution that would allow legislation to lower the cost of homeownership.

Preparations are complete and week one is in the books. We begin week two of the 2026 Fiscal Session today. All meetings are live-streamed at arkansashouse.org

As I told the press after adjournment today, the 2026 Fiscal Session is off to a promising start.

Always a pleasure joining Arkansas Week with Steve Barnes. We had a great conversation about the upcoming Fiscal Session and how we continue working to move Arkansas forward. Catch Arkansas Week tonight at 7:30 on @ArkansasTV_ .

As I shared at the Political Animals luncheon this week, Arkansas heads into this Fiscal Session in a strong financial position.
