Avoid alternate lay or herringbone lay wire ropes. Don't believe the old, incorrect information on these. They do not marry the best of both worlds. Combining lays actually creates the internal crossing of wires that typically leads to hidden wire breaks. Think safe, be safe.

ASME B30 went well. Proud to be associated with this group of experts in the crane industry. It appears I have two more subcommittees to add to my to-do list. I’m looking forward to the work.

Some people think there is no such thing as racial profiling. That it is made-up or an exaggeration. It’s not. This type of thing still happens in America. People get arrested for doing nothing...but being black or being Hispanic. @Starbucks, you got some explaining to do. nitter.gq/missydepino/status/984…
Wire rope marker tapes service no other purpose beyond identification. Know your wire rope basics. Know your replacement criteria. Reference the applicable ASME B30 volume for your crane type.
Know your crane’s wire rope replacement criteria. Always safety first.

The B30 meeting went well. What a fantastic group of people working hard to create a safer environment for everyone in the crane market. I’m proud to be associated. We all must work together so we all go home in the same condition as when we left for work.

Many wire rope manufacturers place colored threads, yarns, or tape markers in their products. These are for identification purposes only. If you see one protruding from between the outer strands, don't be alarmed. These perform no other function aside from identification.
