Honored to contribute to this important & much-needed book by @wisdomtree with an essay on "Modi's India—a True Champion of the Global South." As a panelist, I highlighted: 1) The evolution of the moniker of 'Global South' to reflect the idea of the increasing economic heft of developing countries like India & their joining the G20, in contradistinction to the plain vanilla 'South,' but how it's now coterminous with all 134 developing countries. 2) Modi's India has championed five major global public good projects for the Global South as never before &, as G20 President, established its credentials of Vishvamitra/Vishwaguru, preaching & practicing the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam mantra. 3) China has assumed traits of the Global North in its trade, aid, & debt policies & can no longer claim to be in the Global South, let alone be its champion!
