👀 There is A LOT of money in college athletics. Don't leave your share on the table by signing a deal without understanding your value. Know what you're worth, understand the terms, and have the right representation in your corner. ⚖️ The opportunity is here. Make sure you're positioned to capitalize on it.
Schools paid out more than $2.2 billion in compensation to athletes in the first year of the revenue-share era when considering direct school rev-share and third-party NIL payments approved through NIL Go, per the CSC.

🛡️ Defense travels. @IchabodFTBL forced 5 fumbles, recovered 3, and scored twice on defense in a 31–22 road win over Fort Hays State. 🏠 @OzzyPoage and the Ichabods are back at home tomorrow to take on Missouri Western.
Today's win was a dominant display from the Washburn defense... but gotta give @Natelewis0 some love. Lewis made an impressive catch from @LoganMadden05 in the third to give the Ichabods a two-score lead. @KSNTSports | @wusports

Eight tackles. One tackle for loss. A fumble recovery. An interception. @landon_boss10 made his presence felt on every level of the defense last weekend as @esuhornetsfb improved to 8–0. Next up: A Top-15 showdown on the road vs. Northwest Missouri State. 📍 Saturday | 2 PM CT

Great conversations this morning with @KStateBusiness students on NIL and the evolving business of college athletics. Their questions went beyond the basics, exploring financial sustainability, athlete valuation, transparency and regulation—and what these issues mean for the industry’s future. Here are four key takeaways. 🧵

The questions shaping NIL today will help define the business of college athletics tomorrow. Financial sustainability, competitive balance, athlete valuation and regulation remain critical challenges as the industry continues to evolve. At LMG, we believe informed decision-making and a long-term perspective matter more than ever.

4️⃣ Education Meets Industry It’s encouraging to see NIL receiving dedicated attention in the classroom. @KStateBusiness is planning a class session focused specifically on @opendorse and its role in the NIL ecosystem. As the industry grows, so does the importance of understanding the platforms, businesses and infrastructure shaping it.

3️⃣ NIL as a Business NIL isn’t just a sports conversation. It’s a business conversation. Valuation, negotiation, marketing, regulation, risk and long-term financial planning all play a role in an increasingly complex marketplace. Understanding the landscape requires looking beyond the deal itself.

2️⃣ The Expanding Ecosystem NIL has grown far beyond athlete-brand deals. Marketing agencies, content creators, financial professionals, tournament operators and other businesses are finding opportunities across an expanding ecosystem. As college athletics evolves, so does the range of industries and business models connected to it.
2
14
1️⃣ Financial Sustainability As spending caps evolve, how do schools sustain higher levels of spending—and what happens to competitive balance when access to major donors and financial resources varies so widely? Growth is one thing. Building a sustainable model that allows programs to compete is another.

Big Ten announces it has passed a rule capping school wide roster spend at $49 million (3rd party + school rev share) mirroring what is in the protect college sports act. This basically sets the framework for its football programs to work under in the upcoming portal and roster retention cycle. It is unclear what will happen to this rule if the PCSA doesn’t pass, but the league is fully in support of the bill passing. House members will be back in DC after Election Day.
