Back on the dissertation today after some time away. The focus is pain assessment in prehospital care, with a service evaluation on patients with lacerations. deadline is december, so the coming weeks are for writing.
Tomorrow i'm attending the royal college of paramedics mental health conference. Looking forward to hearing how other services shape mental health response and practice. #MentalHealthMatters @ParamedicsUK
The session on capacity, consent and risk is the one i'm keen to hear most. will share what i learn here. @ParamedicsUK

Three days at @MAA_Charity on the #ETC course. Amazing and scary. I PASSED! ๐
I trained alongside doctors, consultants, surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses. Humbling to watch them work.
Thank you to the instructors, staff and my mentor.
It's been a while since I last posted here. No particular reason beyond a busy few months; I wanted to explain instead of leaving the account quiet.
Dissertation writing has taken up most of my time, alongside an ongoing course load. Balancing both with shift work meant something had to give, and this was it.

Taking my own advice this week. Down in newquay trying to stand up on a paddle board (harder than it looks).
if you work in this job, your recovery time matters as much as your shift does. go take yours.

Today is international paramedic day.
Paramedics don't just respond to 999 calls. We work in GP surgeries, mental health response cars, HEMS, education and research.
The job has changed massively in 25 years, and I'm very Proud to be one.

21 years ago today, 52 people lost their lives in the london 7/7 bombings. emergency crews ran towards the danger, treating the injured amid chaos and fear. we remember the victims, their families and those who responded. never forget.
Tough run of shifts on the MHRV. busy but every patient got the care they needed. days off matter too, use them to properly rest, not just crash. now off to write a few more hundred words for my assignment. #helpustohelpyou #MentalHealthMatters

We're 20 today! ๐
Advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment at home; fewer patients taken to hospital and a service that is far better prepared to respond are all the hallmarks of 20 years of transformation at WMAS.
Chief Executive Officer Anthony Marsh said: "I want to thank every member of staff for the incredible difference you make every day. I'm immensely proud of everything we've achieved together over the last 20 years."
MHFA day two done โ
sessions 3 and 4 in the bag. another room of people who now know how to spot the signs and start the conversation. that's the job.
